Thanks for watching and remember to subscribe! One little edit on the video: the heavy duty misters for high pressure systems are actually most often made of stainless steel, not brass. Apparently the brass/steel mix ones aren't as good.

Hey Lex I have been subscribed and watching your videos for a quite some time now. Question with the aeroponics. So I am use to using Hydroponics if I decided to go with an aeroponics system could root pruning be beneficial in not getting things clogged up? Also if someone was to spend a couple hundred on a battery like they use on PC's and servers so if the power happened to go out they would have a couple hours of good power then that should save their crops (hopefully). I mean there are a lot of different batteries but the good cheap ones run about $400 USD I got one I am planning on putting on my hydroponic system but I have to make sure my battery is far from water as it can get dangerous quick. Is Hydroponics or aeroponics better in your opinion? Growth/Veg/Yeild?

I run a aero system in a 50 gal reservoir . Most of the problems you talk about there are fixes for. Like clogs . They made fine mesh pump screen type bags. Net pots get zip tied to the tote your using. Stuff like that . I will say that timer from Blink you showed is awesome I have about 5 . I also have back up pumps and air pumps for everything. You cant beilve the growth I achieve . Ive ran many systems there nothing like a finely tuned aero system though. The gains out way the problems if you stick with it and youre right smaller plants are easier to control.

The short bursts of spray in a high pressure aeroponic system are what changes the roots from hydroponic roots to high pressure root's. Low pressure aeroponics and hydroponics produce the same kind of stringy root. Most people start with intervals of 3 seconds on every 3 minutes, with the largest gap being 1 second on 5 minutes off. We are trying to create "suspension" in the root chamber. The earth spins at about 1G of force, 20-50 micron sized droplet's "suspend" in the air for about 8 second's. This creates a more consistent humidity level in the chamber. This allows the roots to create smaller fishbone like root's similar to roots in soil. We have found growing Cannabis works best in container's that are at least 19" high for 3-4 months of growing. True HPA changes the pant by causing more "turgidity" essentially the plant rapidly ages along with the explosive growth. Plants have an extra cell membrane compared to us, during osmosis the cell's can swell rapidly and True HPA forces this. Another advantage is running sterile nutrient's the entire grow. Since the roots absorb almost all the nutrients during the day, there is very little runoff. Solely speaking about Cannabis I agree with a lot of what you say. What most people don't realize is that the advantage to True HPA is the speed of growth and cloning during an entire annual set of grow's. True HPA simply adds an extra grow annually do to the speed. When comparing what system's work best for growing Cannabis I have found a good grower will simply win with the system they have mastered. Thanks! Great video.

True on a few points. Ive stuck to a aeroponic/dwc system for all my grows and get good weight and juicy buds that put the growers pictures to shame. Im safe when the power goes out also... its a big deal cleaning the system after a grow.

I'm growing in aeroponic system and it's succeeding. I'm in week 5 of flower. My mistakes were attempting too plants at 1 time so I recommend 2 at most and account for your flower growth! Create anchors for cropping and stress training! Add inner panel's to prevent drips. Go for it! I'm not using brass but I want them for the next round. I like the set up. 2 totes 1 is not long enough

True aeroponics is done with high pressure, delivering about 80 to 120 psi, producing 30 to 80 micron small droplets - the ideal size range. i personally would run 3 seconds every 3 min. an accumulator helps to keep pressure constant and reduce the times the pumps starts running. you can reduce growing time by a good 20-30%, with higher yields than traditional hydroponics and use way less water and nutrients (if you use a recirculating system). PROS: best way to grow, period - faster, better, way less nutrient use, bigger yield etc. - seriously, you can watch the plants grow right in front of you. CONS: very complicated set-up, needs some technical knowledge and decent diy skills, no ready to use products, when it fails it's catastrophic (have a backup system ready - and some way of notifying you when the system fails) - not a system for beginners or intermediates; even pros will prefer simpler set ups for the convenience, but if you do get into it and can build a real HPA system, you are in for a treat! Bonus Tip: DO NOT USE BRASS NOZZLES! there are good steel, titanium and nylon nozzles out there, use those! DO NOT mix metals in your nutrients loop, as it will cause corrosion and poison your plants. Try to get all plastic, steel or titanium parts only (had to search for HP gauges with steel fittings etc.). Bonus Tip 2: Use Yucca in your solution, as it will keep the system and in particular the nozzles from clogging up for much longer!

Do you agree that a full growth cycle through flowering is this difficult if a good high press system and filters are used? I assume if you avoid clogs and have a few redundant misters if you get get some clogged you'll be in good shape. Is there a standard way to support the base of the plant in lieu of soil or more medium?
@Humbulla93

super pro tip: drain to waste because you only have to mix the solution once as the ph doesn´t fluctuate. with a big enough tank you could make it to only mix the nutrient solution once per grow
@Aerogrow
@Aerogrow 4 жыл бұрын
@@Nickporter17 nets or scrog screens / SOG screens are almost always required to keep plant from tipping. Stay away from brass chinesinum junk nozzles and you will not have any issues on clogs. Run a mechanical filter and make sure to not use organic nutes (whatever nutes you use have to fully dissolve and under 50microns). Have 8 grow cycles through my system, never had issues with clogging with high nutes in 1400ppm area during last weeks. You can setup a aero system that is reliable and performs; just the initial investment is about 4x from just running a hydro setup.

@OperationBaboon
@OperationBaboon 3 жыл бұрын
@@Nickporter17 i recommend at least baskets, so that the roots can gab on to something, and center the plant; the rest should be done by gravity. since the roots in the root chamber will be massive, they should be able to counterbalance the top weight. but using a net on top is standard for me anyway - so that helps too. You could probably use inert media, like hydrocorrels; but in truth, if you can do without, do it without. The whole idea is to get rid of anything between the nutrient solution and the plant.

Can an aeroponic system be used for non cloned plants? Like taking a very young plant and put it into a aeroponic system. I am just now researching aero/ hydro ponics and I am looking for the best method to grow indoors or in a semi sunlit screen room. It seems that the aeroponics produces better results than an aerated hydroponic system. I could be wrong, just going by what I have watched thus far. I live in SW Florida so it is hot most of the year even during our so called "winter". I mainly want to grow strawberries, tomatoes, bell peppers(or any pepper), cucumbers,herbs. Any advice would be great. I am not going into cloning at this time as I have no hands on experience with the basics of either system yet. Thanks.

I really only find it beneficial for clones tbh Like you said it's just way too finicky. I prefer coco most of all for veg and flower because of ease of use, and it's versatility. From salt based to bottled organic and finally full organic, it really can do whatever you want, you can use 3.8L smart pots with a drip or bottom fed system, or you can transplant into bigger pots for manual watering. Or you can use the big ass bags and still go for drip, bigger bags exclude bottom fed though, because good luck finding a system for those sizes, unless you diy ofc. Aand it's more environmentally friendly than rockwool, which admittedly is also an amazing medium, just really energy intensive to make.

@@scottturner2529 True. However, hydro is much more optimized for the plant. Soil has a lot of things that could cause stress on the plant. Pests, fungi, bacteria, oxygen deprivation, deficiencies, pH imbalance, etc... hydro cancels out all those stress factors when done properly, therefore, plants grow faster. Even if you have perfectly tailored soil, with the proper amount of synthetic nutrient input and microbial diversity, the amount of oxygen the roots receive is less than they would receive in a hydro environment. Studies have shown that plants grow faster in both hydroponic and anaerobic systems, compared to traditional soil methods.

@@atomizer2665 yes, of course, but if you make a video ad an expert staiting such strong opinion, but not supported by evidences and experience, but only of things heard around, it fools people to believe false informations...

@@francescodipastena3736 If an expert says the hardware will fail in days and the plants will die in minutes , they have never run aero. Misinformation also leads folks to believe they have an aeroponic system when, in reality, its hydroponic :)

Don't grow plants grow buds tell you finished first grow in years the growth rate is crazy fast, brought an old system that was built years ago , always do your maintenance and have 2 of everything, have extra mistersand change them weekly iwhen you change your nutrient tank.chang mine weekly. And one more thing figure out early how you will support your grow . This last grow the root system broke it's grow pot . I'll never go back invest in a chiller you will thank me later. I was actually shocked it didn't get corrected by my spellcheck...it's not a new thing at all...I'm aware of aeroponics as far back as the 1980s.

Honestly, all of these growing techniques besides soil are crap.. Too industrialized, too expensive and complicated, and the weed is simply not the same as with soil.. These growing techniques remind me of the modern way of breeding animals, stuff them all together cramped in a room like sardines, feed them with chemicals and what not, sell them.. Then their meat is not good.. Most people will say that weed is great from aero and hydro, but they are just dealers and sellers trying to justify.. Weed in soil with organic nutrients is the only way to go, everything else needs to stop..

That's just not true, double blind tests have been conducted in testing quality and there is a large prejudice in favor of aeroponics or hydroponics. And the yield of aeroponics is significantly larger than traditional growing.
