@GLMusic12
@GLMusic12 11 жыл бұрын
michael88863 purple and sabbath were formed the same year as led zep. rainbow 7 years after that. floyd and stones existed before but you cant tell who is more original. everyone started from blues. stones played blues,country,rnr. floyd played progressive and they are to me the best band of all time. rainbow members listened to zep. zep, sabbath and purple took blues turned it into blues rock and each one of these bands set the foundations of heavy metal and hard rock. so no purple or rainbow are not better than zep. to me zep kicks their asses, but even you have to admit that a guitarist like paige, a vocalist like plant, a fucking beast of a drummer john bonham and a multitalented motherfucker like john paul jones come out once every 100.000 years. so please, do me a favor and dont place sabbath or purple above led zeppelin. I can hardly think of anybody who grew up during the 70's who did'nt listen and love Led Zeppelin. Everything about them from Plant's stellar vocals, to Jimmy Page's unique guitar sound, to John Paul Jone's great musicianship, and to the greatest drummer in rock, John Bonham-they were in my opinion "The Greatest Rock Band Of The 70's"

A great tribute, and no one could ask for a better induction speech in the true spirit of rock 'n roll than what Steven and Joe gave here for the greatest rock band of all time. I think its a breath of fresh air seeing rockstars, tripping over their words talking about other rockstars. Heroes talking about their heroes. I mean, "these aerosmith people". If your journey of music stopped at Zeppelin, and that abruptly that you're unaware of what aerosmith brought to the table, then you really have a lot to learn still.

Led Zeppelin, just a rock band? No. They were 4 accomplished musicians who excelled at their respective instruments, but in combination they produced a musical statement far more powerful than the sum of those individual parts. To love them or hate them, is inconsequential. One thing you can't do is ignore them. Their influence in the world of music can still be seen, heard and felt nearly 35 years after they disbanded. Very few if any bands can claim that. I was blessed to be around then. \m/

Wow....I've never seen this induction speech and it's beautiful. I feel everything they are saying, with such honor, respect, experience and humor. I am on a Zepp binge of several days as I recover from an ass-kicking stay in hospital. It is definitely part of my healing and I'm learning so much more about them and their influences. Joe is definitely right.....Zepp are 1000 x more than just a heavy-metal band. They defy a simplistic classification into any single genre and music is far better appreciated as ever-changing, blending, multi-influential, etc. That's just how they wanted it.

I think Joe's speech was very moving, and Stevens was fun too. they were both obviously very honored, but also very inspired. And Joe was so nervous he had a hard time getting the words out right, a typical response that 99% of people anywhere would have had. Many who have an easy time performing in one aspect, are very shy in other ways. As just one example; Jimi Hendrix was very shy. The only negativity in this video at all is well, not in the video at all. it's in the toxic comments section, as always. But these people just need to learn the merits of decency, compassion, and most of all: introspection. It's my guess they have been shown little of any of that throughout their lives, hence the anger they direct at anyone who happens to be available. I don't think they even realize they are the minority, and that most of us see right through the thin veil of misdirecting their self-loathing onto others. It's sad more than anything, I can't even take offense because I feel so sorry for them. _We were all born innocent._ Remember that when you confront someone with hate in their heart (but don't accept their bullshit either).

I can't believe it took to 1995 for Zeppelin to get in to the non exclusive rock n' roll HOF. Led Zeppelin is thee quintessential classic rock n' roll band, heck they invented the sound

Though Zeppelin aren't my all time favourite band [they're in my the top 3], i believe they are the Greatest Rock band in history. More than 35 years after Bonzo's death, at least 20 million people enter a worldwide ballot in hopes of attending their one-off O2 Arena gig. 'Nuff said.

Since I don't need to read somebody's opinion in a book. I just listened to 3 versions of You Shook Me. LZ, Jeff Beck and Muddy Waters original. They sound similar because they are both covers of the SAME SONG. Different solo, harmonica on one, no harmonica on the other, guitar and voice mirror each other on LZ and, unsurprisingly, they keep separate on the JBG version. But no matter how you slice it - it's the same song, so of course it will sound similar.

+Patti S How about people who can read without looking like they don't know how. It says alot about you that you even asked that question. You don't have a real appreciation for the true Hammer of the Gods. Led Zeppelin is the alpha and the omega of Rock music. Every other band is just that. They deserved much better than Uber decadent LZ wannabees. They deserved somebody articulate and passionate like Tom Morello, oh yeah, he's educated also. They deserved somebody like Joan Freaking Jett, who may not be the second coming of Guitar goddess, but she has her heart in the right place and she can speak and formulate coherent ideas without reading off a wad of paper. Aerosmith was embarrassing. Joan Jett understands Rock Music and its place in our lives, nobody worked harder.
