I’m a huge TNG fan so a few years ago when Apple was talking about how their new processor can handle a trillion operations per second the first thing I thought was, “that’s faster than Commander Data’s positronic brain!” In the early 90’s a trillion operations per second seemed like something that would take us three hundred years-it only took us THIRTY!!

When I was a kid I always used Estes rocket engines. They come with electric matches, but they usually have a little pop at the end meant for deploying the chute, so be careful to build in some venting for the back end of the rocket motor, preferably to vent it backwards for a little extra kick when the motor is spent, and also be aware that even with a vent that pop at the end could break the craft, or maybe eject the spent motor. They might have ones that do not have the pop at the end for the chute, just find out the Estes motors.
@michiganengineer8621Ай бұрын
Estes or Centauri engines. Not sure if Centauri is still around TBH. If the engine(s) a little loose in the mounting it should self eject after the engine is spent. He'd just need to make the front end of those mounts extra strong.

Any delta wing needs little aileron and a lot of elevator controls. Man you're doing so much better these days. Kudos to you sir!!!! Keep up the amazing work my feathered friend. I've been through designing and building and flying new concepts. Almost anything can fly with the right amount of power and CG. LOL This one is a piece of cake!!!!! You got this!!!!!!! The VTOL aspect though presents a LOT more going on than straight flight though. I think there's enough room for this, but may take some creative duct work that I haven't seen before, but is, I believe, doable. It'll burn some amps doing vertical, but everything does. Going to need gyros assistance for that for sure and fine tuning PIDs is a monster. But there's some really great software out there nowadays compared to when I was doing it. LOL

that's great Kyle! For the more expert people, have in mind that density of the materials you are using for the air frame a.k.a the total weight of the airplane will influence the 'fly ability'. Kyle can make almost anything or shape fly because of the light materials he uses. Applying this to a solid air frame with all ' spare' room filled with propellants an oxidizers will make a huge difference in the density & total weight and will therefor impact greatly the flight characteristics.

Yeah , I heard something about a company trying to develop a SSTO vehicle (single stage to orbit. A book called Half Way to Anywhere documents efforts back in the nineties to develop the concept. Once it was turned over to NASA they shelved the whole ting in favor of their same old concept of flying ammunition shedding parts as it goes to orbit. After all NASA is using taxpayer money so their motto should be “Hang The Expense”!

Its not letting me post the link but an estes a10-0t model rocket engine also. They used to ignite by completing an electrical circuit (a y wire with a match head type ignition source) since you're basically making heat through a crossed wire. Maybe that circuit can be completed by using a remote battery with a remote on off switch that is either digital or a mechanical and could be actuated with a servo and a little push rod that can push pull the switch on off; but i would NOT use lithium and i would test on the ground definitely. Lithium might explode the battery and ignite the electrode 😆😆
