unfortunately things do not scale linearly in fluid dynamics, what works with a 3 pound RC plane does not mean it will work on a full size.
@jimseviltwin1
@jimseviltwin1 2 ай бұрын
@@JeronimoStilton14 Forunately, they do. A wind tunnel is a perfect example of the application of similitude and modeling . Before the development of computer modeling, a wind tunnel was an essential design tool to examine forces on the scale model of an aircraft under design before a full scale prototype was constructed. But, your point is well taken; a full scale aircraft would need to have similar weight distribution. Accounting for fuel storage and payload would be problematic
@JeronimoStilton14
@JeronimoStilton14 2 ай бұрын
@@jimseviltwin1 maybe you are considering similitude and buckingham PI groups as “linear” which I think is a stretch but it’s been a while since I worked with them so maybe they are technically all first order equations and operations, but my point was depending on what you want to study the geometry will not be simply scaled. Wind tunnels are indeed used, but one can’t simply scale a model and have it be an apt comparison of all properties, fluid dynamics is annoying like that lol Also side note it looks like the ngad mock-ups have traditional control surfaces so he’s definitely making his life harder by only using control surfaces in the jet stream.

Thank you and welcome to the RC jet world! Control authority means I have lots of ability to make the plane turn, bank, and roll. Also the ability to make it stop on a dime like maverick in the movie when he did that crazy maneuver against the bad guy 👍🏻 hope that makes sense in normal terms 👍🏻

Besides being one of the cheapest and simplest toys to manufacture, I wonder if it could be scaled up for personal planes vs military only.

The most interesting thing I've seen in rc aero. You might know I've seen very little. Enough that this was really like an imitation of UFO flight. You start thinking this how you pull up and stall so enemy overshoot and then regain your flight and shoot them down. It was like a dogfight in the most advanced thing ever imagined. And you can go airborne from a drop of four feet high without getting near to the ground. It's incredible!

With how deltas fly, ie; high AOA, you would likely gain much more stabilty by putting the wing fences on the bottom of the wing instead of the top to reduce the wing rock/roll oscillations. Just a thought for you to consider for your next version. Nice concept, plus it has a stunningly beautiful silhouette in the sky, you are not so far away from a final version, keep working on it. :)
