Jetdoctor: a smart way to go, I went around about route though, started out in fast attack submarines then got out and went to Colorado aero tech with my military $. Received my A&p early 88. My son is trying to pick an air force job. This route would have saved me from 4.5. Navy yrs. anyways the A&P has taken me now at 23 years with the freighter known as big brown, starts with a “U”. Our top out take 5 yrs and current ly is just short of 70$ hr(2 more) on this contract. My sons senareo is , at 18 now and gets in and out of the Air Force, hires into big brown he will be at 80$ hr by the time he’s 27. Our double time hrs are very generous as is vacation time ( I’ll have 9 aka next year)

False. That shred stays with you until you make tech. E shred goes to F when you go operational. That shred he has (and what I had when I was in) lets you work F-16s, B-1s. There’s a few others but those are the airframes I personally worked. 🙄 Please redo this video with a SSgt or someone higher up. He’s too new and doesn’t really understand how mx works. Definitely get a flightline, back shop and test cell person because each section is very different. It would be extremely beneficial to your audience to find people that have worked multiple airframes and talk about the learning process of learning the new jet. There is so much to this career field and this guy completely missed the mark.
@jaredjimenez95895 жыл бұрын
Jenny Michelle thanks for that. I’m open mechanical and if I end up getting this job do I get to pick which shred I can work on?
@kuddlingkittens60535 жыл бұрын
Jared Jimenez That would be a question you should ask your recruiter. When I came in open mechanical in 2013, I picked a list of career fields and got this one. I was assigned a shred when I got my class date. The AF is always changing but to my knowledge, you don’t get to pick shred outs, it’s just the luck of the draw.

@@kuddlingkittens6053 How do you like this afsc? Are you happy you chose it? Its on my job list and very interested. Any info would help thanks.
@kuddlingkittens60534 жыл бұрын
@Samzlab boxing The technical aspect of job was great. The people, especially leadership were terrible. It made life miserable. I got out in March and haven’t regretted it. I don’t recommend a maintainer career field to anyone. It’s crappy and not worth the pay. It does pay decent in civilian world and you have the freedom to quit if people at work are terrible. The best way I can put it is: You get paid the same as someone who sits at a desk, in a climate controlled environment for 8 hours a day and they also get an hour lunch. Look at the divorce and suicide rates for the AF. There’s a reason why those are higher among maintainers and security forces.

Honestly this video is horrible. This guy does not describe this afsc very well. If i were looking at joining this video would not tell me anything note worthy about the job at hand. The issue is he's speaking to experienced maintainers. Not people who know little to nothing about being a jet troop. Sincerely A1C Smith 2A651C. Please redo this video with more descriptive information.

... He’s been in for 3 years, 1 airframe, backshop and probably hasn’t deployed. He doesn’t have enough experience. That’s probably why he doesn’t know much and thinks “it’s all take things apart and put it back together.”

Flightline all my career. QA was a nice break along with expediter, but to sum it up, do something that doesn’t destroy your body and make the same amount of money that Billy makes looking at a computer while messing up your pay every 6 months.
