@@voyagerwitch I was thinking that since the song was called mindful solutionism it was about how we're pretty good at making stuff as a species. Everyone focuses on this line, I think that ignores the rest of the song. Our goal should be to keep inventing, keep the onward march of technology going, but be mindful of what we create and to think hard about how we really want the world to work. Be greatful for the fucking dehydrated onion dip son.
@voyagerwitch11 ай бұрын
@@titusjames4912 god that's so funny. no, man. "mindful solutionism" means being mindful (careful, present) of how you go about solving problems. it's also meant to sound like some silicon valley business jargon garbage that wouldn't mean anything. also, it's not just the one verse. the whole song is extremely sarcastic and menacing. "if it's out of the bag, then it's out of the bag": after you put an idea or technology in the world, you can't control how it's used "yes it can; ain't a dam that could cancel the flood": it's a flood that can't be stopped. a cataclysm. "weaponry in stellar form, shelter finer by the day": juxtaposing modern convenience with the motherfucking death star "at the tree of knowledge, pulling genies out of bottles": getting knowledge that will destroy your innocence, getting the ability to grant wishes you can't predict the results of the whole song, not just the one verse, is about how technology isn't good and it's not evil either. it's POWERFUL, and power will be used.

Man i've always shat on A$AP for, from my point of view, blatantly ripping off Aesops' name. I mean, ok you got Aesop and ASAP. That's fine i guess. Then he made it into ASAP ROCKY Like dude That's not a coincedence. Hoping it was meant as an homage or something. Would be weird if it's a diss. I've learned to kinda let it go over the years, like it seemed like he was tryina cash off of of Aesops name and that. But now i see more like, ASAP is just a guy doing his best for the game and all that. Man has been putting in a lot of work and has become a lot more humble in recent years. I actually like ASAP now but i kinda do wanna ask him if he sees Aesop as like a source of inspiration or otherwise what the name is about. @@brianwalkosz9567 I mean i'm soon to be on the up and coming and was thinking of going by ''Robotron the funky sage'' as an homage to Deltron (and the other trons in the tron family, lol) Also things is pretty wild. I started writing raps a couple of weeks ago and now i got all these rappers kinda helping me out and i'm gonna have to write a huge list of people to thank in the songs i write. Seriously even DRAKE has kinda reached out for me and Eminem stole my bars from my graffiti so this is getting wild. I consider myself as something of an apprentice to Aesops work. Dude's been teaching me ever since i started listening and now things are clicking into place. Like i invented the ''marijuana = marry do ya wanna'' bar. But they also usurp the culture that people generate ourselves, they exploit, distort and bastardize it and it becomes a mutant. And there's really no counter culture to this. The world was put on autopilot.
@TexasGreed Жыл бұрын
Aes is definitely not saying we never make anything productive. As that is blatantly untrue. This song is about the good and the bad of technology and its power to effect us as well as it's total inevitability because it's existence originates back to our roots as part of natural survival instinct and evolution. The cat is technology. It's out of the bag, it exists. There is no going back. "Ain't a dam that could cancel the flood" it's a solution we developed to certain problems, but it Is often a new problem of it's own, which in turn in overcome by another solution. The flood.

Aesop killing it since the early 2000s. I used get his records at phat beats on 6th Ave in the village. The old days and he is killing it better now. NICKLE PLATED POCKETS...... here is a loosie Aesop

This feels just like an educational video you'd watch in 6th grade science class in 2005 the day before winter break, followed by an episode of Bill Nye.

If Aesop never did anything but this tune, I'd still say he's in the running for the greatest.

This makes me think of Hey Kirby, but not because it has a cat being a subject. It’s just like Hey Kirby IMO because the lyrics are super straight forward for Aes. Most songs have an amazing flow, but I have to really think and reflect to really start to get it (or at least think I’m getting it). This one was super straightforward though. It was awesome, but some part of me wants to hear those cryptic lyrics every time and have to think hard to figure them out even while words flow over the beat like water and I am jamming. Either way, I know every song can’t be a puzzle for dummies like me. I loved it, it was a super awesome listen. ❤️ ya! Please never stop!!
