Could you do a video like: “Book recommendations for people who don’t like classics but want to like classics”?

@itsi47783 жыл бұрын
For me the problem is some of them have really hard words. And English is not my mother tongue so it's hard for me to go on reading. I wish I'll be able to get into them though.
@onlyireneadler3 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you like. If you want a coming of age story, you can try "The Catcher in The Rye" or "Dandelion Wine", if you want something about survival, you can try "Lord of the Flies". If you want to read sci-fi/dystopia, you can try "House of Stairs" (by Sleator), "Animal Farm" or "Dune". If you want fantasy, perhaps try "The Neverending Story". If you want something with cottagecore vibes, perhaps try "The Secret Garden". If you want to read a play with ghosts and family problems and royalty, you can try "Hamlet". If you want to read a romance with the enemies to lovers trope, you can try "Pride and Prejudice". If you prefer horror, perhaps try "Something wicked comes this way" or "The Haunting of Hill House". If you want to read a thriller about obsession and a talented murderer, try "The Perfume". If you are into short stories with a fantastical twist, try Edgar Allan Poe's stories. If you are into murder mysteries, you can always read Agatha Christie's books or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's... Classics are not classics by essence. They become classics thanks to the audience and the critics and the scholars. :)

I was so thrilled to see you have The Little House series. I was wondering if you had ever read them. These are my favorite books of all time - partly because I am in Chicago, which was, at the time, considered the edge of civilization and a jumping off point to the west. I also have collections of Laura's newspaper writings, collections of letters and poems written by her sisters, the book Caroline, which is a retelling of Little House on the Prairie from Ma's point of view, etc etc. I have never seen the editions you have! I have the hardcovers with Garth Williams' classic illustrations, which are my very favorite. I have been to the LIW historic home in Missouri, visited her grave, and was able to stop briefly in Pepin, Wisconsin on a road trip and see at least the outside of the LIW museum there. I have seen Pa's violin in person, and Laura's wedding dress! Basically, the way you are about Harry Potter, I am about Little House. LOL

Hi @RubyGranger8 I discovered your channel 2 years ago and this was my first video of yours. I love your passion for reading, it’s so inspiring. Since the day I watched you talking about your vintage Dickens set I’ve been wanting to have it too - it’s so beautiful! I wasn’t able to find it in good condition and yesterday I finally stumbled upon one on eBay. It’s my birthday today and I just got it as a present to myself. You’ll probably never read this but I just wanted to say thank you. I have a young daughter and you’ve inspired me to raise her as a reader, surround her with books, read to her, and I hope in some 20 years I’ll pass on this gorgeous set of Dickens to her just like your parents did to you. ❤ (I would love to watch an interview with your parents and learn more about them and what they did to raise such a special girl.)
