Oooh, I was planning to play it with the Chinese audio, so Imma try that out and see how it goes. But even based on the JP audio (from the clips I've seen), Lumine's VO felt cold and emotionless, while Aether's VO felt determined and resigned. It really does give a different experience depending on which language you listen to.

We have had too many stories where the protagonist is the brother/male and the antagonist is the sister/female, so having Aether as the antagonist feels more refreshing. Also, in fanlore/headcanon, Lumine is presented as the more headstrong and deadpan of the two, so it makes the contrast even better if she's the protagonist. Of course, this is all just my opinion, you are free to prefer it the other way around as well haha.

That’s the reason why I choose Lumine as Traveler.She’s more like a badass heroine that openly expresses anger and seems powerful.I wanted her as the hero since we need more girl heroes.I wanted someone who expresses emotions openly and mostly wanted a girl who shows emotions like anger.I wanted Aether as the abyss twin since he seems so much like a good guy and I wanted it less stereotypical.I wanted a broken hero who went on the bad path and seems sad.I thought he looked innocent and sweet and thought it was kind of a good idea to let him be the broken villain that lost all his hope.I also wanted to feel more pain and more sorrow while playing it.I like strong and badass heroines who seem a bit cold but still trust worthy and also with a soft or sweet side but I also love villains who are misunderstood and went through a lot.A villain you automatically want to help and save.I think it motivates someone more while playing the game.I really wanna hug Abyss Aether btw.He seems like he went through a lot but I also wanna hug Abyss Lumine too but Aether he gives me a different vibe.I will never regret my decision and I’m glad.

I see so many ppl saying that Lumine fits as the villain while others say the opposite but in my opinion, it's the same. Lumine's Eng voice sounds very innocent yet so cold. Her outfit fits the idea of a princess as well as the typical ice cold blonde trope, innocent lookin' yet lacks any senses of humanity. Same goes for Aether but in a different way. His voice is more emotional like he's trying to build back something that's lost but couldn't. I only see ppl mentioning Lumine looks like a princess but I think Aether also looks like a Prince. He has a cape and a pair of puffy pants which are common depiction of a prince. His colour scheme is pretty dark and more depressing than Lumine's and with his emotional personality, it feels like a villain who has lost everything and trying to show justification on his action to the hero. To me, Lumine is like an ice princess that just lost hope in humanity while Aether is more like a nightmare prince who's trying to build back what he has lost.

Aether is more passionate in a way, more angry towards what has happened and almost depressed that he can't go with Lumine yet still hopeful and determined towards the path he is looking to take. Lumine seems hardened by the world but absolutely certain about what wants to do, in cold and rational way. Like she knows what's right. I think they are a great contrast and in the end, it depends on which style of villain moreso resonantes with you personally. But I absolutely agree with you, they make good viallains in their own way

I don't regret choosing Lumine, when you choose her you feel the pain between the two siblings, Lumine feels broken and Aether as well but when you choose Aether Lumine feels a little cold plus I don't think there is a canon protagonist, Mihoyo just needed a twin for their trailers but never said that there is a canon protagonist, both of them are good as protagonist, it depends on your preferences

If Kaeya is from Khanreia then he must be someone special to still retain human form. At the end of the mondstadt arc Kaeya said to traveler he was busy doing his own investigation with the abyss order behind the shadows all while the stormterror chaos was happening which is rather suspicious. At the Windblume he made a poem that Venti red. "Mi Muhe Ye" which does not translate to "I love you." But instead "Triumph over you.". And Venti looks like he got the message but choose not to reveal the real translation. I feel like Kaeye has more in depth connection with the plot than any of the current characters we have.

Venti tries to avoid talking about it and becomes visibly uncomfortable in the manga, the Hydro Archon knows not to fight against Celestia, and the Tsaritsa may be gathering other Archons' Gnoses for her "rebellion against the divine". It may be a case of the Archons being allies with Celestia, but the relationship is tense and most likely an unhappy one. I would probably imagine the Archons were forced to destroy Khaenri'ah because they didn't have a God.

Gosh I fricken love seeing Ather being the villain. He's the villain that still cares and hopeful for the change. Unlike with Lumine voice when she is evil its cold and giving up on the world. I shall never regret choosing Lumine because in my eyes Ather is an amazing villain who's still hoping his sister joins him so they can be together again at least that's my view on Prince Ather.

Yes, in MiHoYo games, everyone likes colder ones, but when it comes down to it, villains having a less emotional act are easier to sympathize with no matter how much you hate them. Cold and deadpan ones only allow for being hated on, you don’t want to hear their side because they show no emotion to relate to.

I actually really like that aether is the antagonist in this. To me it makes the meeting even sadder as he seems to want to be with his sister but has seen to much to walk away easily. It makes it feels like while he is the bad guy, he isn’t the bad guy. But for lumine to be it, to me it just feels cold. Funny how voice actors can really make the impact on the character. Especially depending on the language!

I love Lumine being the main and Aether being the fallen hero. It gives more angst. A big sister who is always on guard, stoic face and strong, never breaking down so she may find her twin again, her cheerful half. Only to find out his perpective also diverged. But what broke her more than him being on the enemies' side, is she couldn't experience the hardship with him. Couldn't help him. And the beautiful things they could have shared? That is gone too.

In my opinion. Aether voiced this scene so much better. But that depends on how you viewed this moment. I felt like the other twin would have been in severe pain, having to leave their sibling behind to continue leading the Abyss, that is also what Aether made it sound like. Lumine made it sound like she didnt really care anymore and had entirely been engulfed with evil (atleast.. assuming we're not the bad guys in this scenario.)

This scene was more interesting than people say: For one: we learn that Traveller, still has the ability to travel worlds. That line where Traveller said to go to the next world, it was too interesting. Despite the majority of their power sealed, they are still capable of traveling to the next world... I wonder why that was put in. 2) why was Siblings power kept, in the trailer, Sibling had the white glow unlike the Traveller, so that means the full 500 must have took that long to fully seal their powers, but Sibling escaped... maybe the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles thought that Traveller was more of a threat than the Sibling... that could explain why Sibling escaped 500 years prior. Is probably that their power was diminished so they travelled with Dain across Teyvat but then found out who he was then left.

I really liked the writing in this part, some bits of genshins writing are a pain bc its just to draw the story out, but this felt so good, the way the brother/sister overlook their sibling being with the abyss, the temporary relief and then just that confusion they felt and also paimon being a 10/10 best friend

I am really hoping they make the story into the grey area. I mean that there isnt any true villain that even the fatui and abyss has their own perspective in hundred years war and making you to choose at the end of the game. To choose whose side we are going to take, becaus its obvious that the gods in tevyat isnt as kind and benovelent as we first thought when seeing venti and zhongli. It would be really cool if both ether and tsaritsa both aiming to get their own justice

I now have heard both voices. I think Lumine’s voice and delivery of her lines effectively sounded more villainy, striking, dark and cold. Aether’s voice kinda doesn’t give me that vibe and intent. His voice delivery is more warm, smoother, lighter and less intimidating.

I agree that Aether didn't look cold compared to villain Lumine but I'd still choose Lumine even after that. I prefer fighting Aether than Lumine because I just can't fight Lumine, especially if she'll die in the process.

For all the people arguing in the comments (mainly the people saying Aether is the main protagonist) Both of them are canon, it doesn’t matter who you pick. They make the same facial expressions so there’s no “lumine looks colder” or “Aether looks more cheerful” they say the same things to everyone so there is no “lumine seems more distant” or something. There’s also a difference between the advertisements and the game. They needed someone to advertise the game and they choose Aether, so using the advertisements as a point to why Aether is the canon protagonist won’t work since lumine is the protagonist in 2 of the trailers, same goes for official art. And for the manga, I’m pretty sure they just needed someone to listen to Venti in that tiny panel, and just went with Aether. Will this stop more arguments? Probably not. Are people still going to yell at me in the replies? Most likely. Was it worth a shot? I’d say so. edit: in the manga Aether was chosen because he WAS going to be the main character but then lumine was added in the beta, my argument still stands though.

So here's my theory on why the other twin hates Dain, maybe because Khaenri'ah is like Monstadt to ours and Dain has the power to Khaenri'ah and was given the responsibility to protect it and he failed which led to Khaenri'a's destruction so maybe that's why the other twin hates him (just my theory tho)
