I do feel bad for Gardner Minshew it seems like Antonio Pierce and Luke Getsy have broken him down mentally and physically Edit: One day after I commented this Luke Getsy got fired.
@ChewsCarefully2 ай бұрын
Or *maybe* it's more than one thing. I see in Minshew something I also see in Nix. Both seem to have not built up their side-muscles, laterals as much as they need & throw almost exclusively with their arms, not enough twist. As a result they throw too much like baseball & can't zip in their throws. This is what makes them inaccurate when they throw long. Davante was upset because he knew neither he nor AOC could throw deep. This is why.
@grantmartin47732 ай бұрын
I mean not really he has just played terrible but the play calling hasn't been great either. When they throw consistently they are pretty decent but luke getsy has cooked the offense regardless of how gardner has played

Some of the Raiders players that I think are worth another look (positive and negative) Duds: Kolton Miller - mostly injury related but he's been struggling so hard this year (-6) Andre James - Similar drop off to Kolton, unsure what's been going on with him (-5) Thayer Munford - Not the franchise tackle we wanted, he was actually benched for Glaze straight up and then was awful when he had to step into left tackle for Kolton Miller this past weekend (-5) Tre Tucker - Has not had the separation we expected for a player with his speed + the flashes we saw last year (-2) John Jenkins - Expected drop off with age, can't hold against double teams, misses tackles (-1) Studs: Nate Hobbs - Insane against the run (for the second year running) we play him as a psuedo linebacker, slot and outside corner and he's been fantastic in all 3 phases. Our only corner that can tackle (+2) Special Teams - AJ Cole and Daniel Carlson are crushing it. Especially Cole, he's in the conversation for best punter Adam Butler - Much improved against the run and maintains those flashes of pass rush, our best DT now (+3) K'lavon Chaisson - Stepped right into the role we needed, much like charles snowden. Good against the run (+2)

I agree with everything but Tucker. Look just in this video at 57:57 and 58:08. I dunno what the deal is, but even watching some games you see a half a second later and hes open. and when it is thrown to him its underthrown and he barely misses or makes some type of crazy catch. The flashes that we see from him are when hes given the chance to make a play. Then in the other plays you see two defenders on him because they are scared of his speed.

Three formers Maryland guy on the list for the Raiders in DJ Glaze, Jakorian Bennett, and DJ Turner. In Turner's case he is technically out of Pitt, but he played four out of his five years at Maryland before transferring and breaking out at Pitt. DJ Glaze was not a highly recruited player out of Florida. He redshirted. As a RS Freshman he didn't start but he must have established himself in practice because they gave him a lot of series in close games and he ended up playing like 30% of the reps. As a RS Sophomore they moved him into Guard and he was instantly a good starter there. In 2022 and 2023 they moved him out to Tackle. He was also a good starter never became that dominant guy but all three years as a starter he was good (PFF grade in the 70's). Bennett was a JUCO who was a three year starter (he took an extra covid year). Like Glaze he wasn't a big recruit. His last 2 years as a starter he had a ton of pass breakup which to be showed he had some ball skills. His hands were terrible as he dropped a number of potential picks, but he was getting his hands on the pass. Between him, Deontae Banks, and Tarheeb Still he made the most plays on the ball but was probably targeted the most. Banks wasn't targeted as much, but rarely made any plays on the ball, and Tarheeb Still was the nickelback. DJ Turner was a guy who was underutilized at Maryland. He was stuck behind guys like DJ Moore (understandable), Dontay Demus, Taivon Jacobs and though he spent four years at Maryland was never better than their fourth receiver. The 600 receiving yards he had at Pitt ended up exceeding his four year total at Maryland. Of the three he was the most highly rated recruit as he was a four star guy out of powerhouse Dematha (Turner was ranked 5th in the state and 145th nationally). He was part of the 2016 class which locally had a lot of hype as being a good class but when it was all said and done produced only 1 starting NFL player (Trevon Diggs) and a lot of college and NFL disappointments (such as Dwayne Haskins). Turner is unique among that group in that some of them had solid college careers but didn't do anything in the NFL, Turner was a big disappointment in college, but has stayed around in the NFL.

For the Chargers, I think it's pretty spot on! Only one I straight disagree is Zion. Think his pass pro has gone from bad to worse, and his run blocking while still ok, isn't enough to offset it. Regarding Dobbins it's tough. He seems to have lost a bit of a step, and he's in the good/not great category. Run blocking has also been a bit suspect (and part of why Herbert is throwing a lot more), but I think Dobbins is what he is, at this point. Good stop-gap, on the cheap, with ability to play at a high level. I wouldn't give him a bag, but he's done well enough to earn a paycheck elsewhere.

Bumping JPJ down one is ludicrous imo, he’s being one of the few positive forces for the Raiders right now. Check out his film vs Cincy, he was utterly dominant. >90 PFF grade!

Tarheeb still had a massive game against the browns, hopefully he keeps up his play. Interested in what you've seen as I know you didn't get to his tape for your draft review videos. Chargers having two rookie 5th round picks and former 6th putting on their best defensive showings the last few weeks. Coaching makes a difference!

This is interesting, but the one I am looking forward to is the AFC South for the discussion on Levis and Richardson. Even the the discussion on the Jags and Texans should be interest,. The Jags cause they are so disappointing and the Texans because they have a good team, but did the lack of O-Line finally catch up with them (all the talk that the Shannahan system was immune to O-Line woes).

If i remember correctly last year before he tore his ACL the hype around nazeeh johnson made it seem like he was in the convo for CB2. So its not a huge shock that he's starting over Williams. Williams seem like a good dude so I don't think he's had a falling out i just think he's been kinda bad

49:52 also keep in mind Marcus the NFL still has to suspend rice due to the multitude of charges he got last offseason because the investigation will complete by the time he gets healthy I think his rating should stay the same or go down because he’ll probably come off of that rusty, Deshaun Watson should be the precedent, as you very well know getting injured and having and having a significant legal case made him play awful, Rice will probably come out of the gates pretty rusty in the middle of next season. You want to keep that in mind when preparing your deep dive for next offseason or your next episode of studs and duds

55:39- no clue what the issue is there. Nazeeh Johnson looks worse than Williams in every way, though he was supposedly about to win the NB position last year before his season-ending injury. It may just be a development thing.
