Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo - How to draw an eye (study)

OMG 😆 Isabel I have been searching for this technique everywhere high and low on the Internet, Skillshare, Udemy, and other places. I even bought brushes from Frankentoon thinking I would learn this painterly effect guess what no classes lol I would love to take your class on this topic as I have learned a lot from you on your other classes. I try to paint but I don’t achieve this effect my edges are too hard and it looks like blobs. Please make and in-depth class I would be happy to take it and Thank you for sharing your wonderful gifts. I have a drawing tablet too, and IPad but I have All three apps on my desktop from Affinity and enjoy mostly working from my desktop .

I’m drawing all the time due to the lockdown. Trying to learn caricature but I’m no good at it as I’ve been too many years with my own cartoon style. Love your videos.

Thanks Overlord. You are good at it probably but still didn't practice enough. Practice more! I am all the time drawing too. I am losing a bit the notion of when is it that I am drawing or working... but if I think of it it's always a bit like this. Today is Saturday and with such a sunny day in a normal situation I'd be out for sure. I am preparing a new class instead. Well... I guess it's not that that bad after all :)

This is really the toughest moment I have ever lived, even when I had some tough ones before in my life, but also most people in my country which is being devastated by this pandemic and so it will be for who knows how long more, while we see how it is also taking all over the rest of this planet to a greater or lesser extent. I also had a problem with the lagging brush from my older Wacom Intuos but I upgraded to the new XP Pro Deco and have not experienced the lagging at all anymore.

Hmmm I might be all wrong, but I refuse to think a machine gun for graphics as the Wacom Cintiq is the problem to this, especially thinking it never ever lags with other software at all or even with the pen tool. It's some brushes and some brushes with the pencil, sometimes. Not sure why, but fortunately it is an sporadic event (at least for now haha)

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks! What size document did you use for this? I can't seem to paint on anything above A4 with a DPI of 300 without the program lagging, it is even worse when there is any kind of softness applied to the brush.

Hi Ben! Thanks for passing by and leaving a comment. My canvas is 3500x2480px at 300dpi. It worked pretty well except for that moment when the brush lagged. I'm on macbook. You're not the only one reporting lags when the computer is not powerful enough though. I precisely changed my mac 4 years ago due to my old macbook not being able to manage things in Adesigner, but I cannot complain much as my old mac was 10 years old back then.

What tablet you using to draw ? What’s recommended ? I have an iPad pro can i use that as a tablet to draw to my screen and not using the iPad version of affinity design ?

Hi Julian! I am using a Cintiq, as I explain in the video itself: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn7SmHawqaerkLs Regarding your other question, I don't have an iPad myself, but I believe you can connect it to a monitor and use it as a tablet, so you don't have to be looking at the screen while you draw. However I am afraid you will still be using the iPad version of the software. Can't be 100% sure though as I don't have one myself and never tried such thing.
