2 years later, and PS iPad is still soo freaking cobbled. I had AP v1 years ago. I discovered today my upgrade universal license still applies! AP v2 blows PS out of the water in iPad, STILL! I will be looking into Darkroom, and hopefully ditch my adobe sub. I am only a hobbyist, now. So, I have been tossing money to them for years, just to use the programs from time to time. I bought and iPad Pro M2, and photoshop on it made me so livid! Thanks for the vids, mate!

Unfortunately, you need to buy it on the Mac and on the iPad Luis... I started on the iPad, then after a while bought it for the Mac... at least it's only a one-time payment each time and they do sales too in the year... next one might be Black Friday (I'm guessing) :)

This is awesome. I just bought an iPad to use for running my DnD games and was hopeful I’d be able to find an app like this. I used to use photoshop on desktop for a ton of things to include making maps for my DnD games but it’s been years since I’ve had the PC and tablet to do what I did then. Hoping this app will work for what I do with it!

I have used Luminar AI on my Mac for the last few years, the AI enhancements are fantastic starting points for me as I’m not that skilled with photo editing, and I then just tweak from there. Would Affinity Photo be a good choice for someone in my shoes- are there plenty of templates or presets that one can use to get a good head start on editing a photo? Snd what about any sort of AI/machine learning- are there any of those options in this app? As noted I love Luminar AI, but want to move to my new Ipad for photo editing so my best choices seem to be Affinity Photo or Pixelmator Photo- but Affinity does seem to be more powerful.
@CreativeGoodman Жыл бұрын
I've been tempted many times to get Luminar AI on the Mac must say Josh! I really hope it comes to the iPad. As for your questions, Affinity Photo is fantastic for photo editing, and IMO is better than Pixelmator, but there's not templates or presets. It's more like Photoshop i.e. you can do great things with it and remove objects and do graphic design etc. but unlike Luminar AI Affinity Photo iPad doesn't have AI/machine learning. If you like Luminar AI I would look at Darkroom for iPad, it's like Adobe Lightroom and it has presets and its more for colour grading photos. Hope this helps Josh :)

I would love to ditch Adobe and use Affinity photo on the iPad, but I'm hesitant to give up all the 'actions' I use and love in Photoshop. Can you get filters or presets for Affinity photo? When I'm editing on my iPad I would love to have some easy to use effects and colours.
@CreativeGoodman2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, I know exactly what you mean and currently to be honest, I still use PS on my Mac from time to time. So I completely understand where you're coming from. AP does have actions (they call them macros), but currently, you can only make macros/actions for the desktop version of AP for Mac/pc, and then you have to import them into AP iPad. So that means having AP for desktop and AP for iPad. AP iPad does have filters and presets too. Custom/user presets would need to be made via macros/actions I believe. I'll be making videos on all of these things down the line :) Hope this helps.

@CreativeGoodman2 жыл бұрын
Hi, you could use it instead of Lightroom but to be honest, I wouldn't… I’d check out Darkroom if I were you, I use it (I also still use Lightroom too) but Darkroom is very, very impressive and can be a one-off payment and it's much more like Lightroom. Using AP and Darkroom together is a very powerful combo IMO, hope that helps :)

@CreativeGoodman2 жыл бұрын
Kind of... although there's no saveable paths panel like in PS, but you can make a pen tool path and use it anytime in that project, and you can go into another project and copy an existing pen tool path and paste it into another AP iPad project too. Hope that makes sense :)

Hey Andrew. Liking the videos. Was just curious to yours thoughts on the comparison between affinity photo and procreate.🤷♂️ I myself like you have used Photoshop for many years but I’ve just made the transition from Windows to iPad Pro 5 gen and having watched various KZbin videos, Photoshop doesn’t come across very well thought of. Let me know your opinions please. Rob 🫤

Hi Rob and thanks for your comment and question. I use AP iPad for all my photo & graphic work, much like how I use PS. (I have a review of PS iPad so watch it for my views on it). I do use another App to colour grad/correct the photos on iPad. It's called 'Darkroom' and I hope to make a video on it soonish. To me Procreate is a drawing/illustration app and it is amazing! I can't say enough good things about for drawing/illustration on the iPad. I hope this helps, if not lmk :)

@@CreativeGoodman thanks the msg. So after lots of various KZbin videos I’ve watched and also the inspiration you’ve given, I was hugely interested in purchasing affinity photo and I’m so glad I did. I’ve got to say though after watching various tutorials on the app, it’s mindbending as to the capabilities of all of it, and what its able to do, very much looking forward to getting into within the next few weeks. One quick question though, can I make animated gifs and logos? I’ve not really searched for it as of yet so just throwing it out there, and curious if you know? 🤔

Good choice Rob IMO! And you're right, it's amazing the things you can do in it. You can def make logos in AP iPad but unfort not yet. If I've had to make animated gifs on the iPad I've used Procreate. Not what's it's meant for but it does the job, I did the artwork for the gifs in AP iPad and then imported the artwork to Procreate... there might be better ways/apps for this but that's just what I did :)
