Thanks for this! Was browsing afflock vids and you have by far the best technique and skill of any other locks I've seen so far. Gonna bookmark this for later, looking forward to more content as WOTLK gets going. I'm planning on raiding 10 man with some old friends, would you suggest aff lock or rogue? I'm leaning aff lock due to utility + damage but I had so much fun pumping in classic Naxx with rogue so I'm torn.

first off thanks man, means a lot i think i'll make a video on 10mans 'cause a lot of people are interested but affliction absolutely LACKS in 10man. I don't know exactly what combination of buffs makes it subpar but even with good play i struggle in 10man to beat the same people i smash in 25man. Thing is, rogue actually ALSO lacks in 10man 'cause hunters are better in just about every scenario (even if the rogue might do slightly more dps) HOWEVER, and this is the MOST IMPORTANT PART - 10mans are very easy in wotlk. I've had so many groups of 2 retpal, 1furywarr, 1protwarr awful comps and we just go in and smash stuff because it's good players on alts (i.e. none of us are griefing mechanics etc.) If youre thinking of doing lock in 10man, definitely go with demonology imo because it competes with affliction damage while simultaneously giving a really good raidbuff Thanks again

@@drdirtysouth6178 aff/demo is fun. You can pump aff in 25 and go demo in 10s. Feels good to change up the playstyle and you have dual spec.

yep the one for dots is " warlock affliction main panel" - by merfin, "global power buffs" by merfin then u need to manually insert things like dying curse, PI, etc, and finally "widget:stats" by merfin for sp/haste etc. you may have to DM merfin directly i think he just asks for a twitch sub then u have access to everything and whatever he makes in the future

quick thing on the bombs, since classic wow is backported from a newer version things like @cursor are in the game where as back on retail they got implemented later on, because of that we will prob see it being a thing in wotlk clasic. if u want to use ur bombs with as little downtime as possible use them in the gcd after u used an instant ability, this way u dont lose any time casting

One of the best guides out here good job i just have 2 extra questions 1. When your at BIS icc u still dont hit your haste cap im sitting with 1359 haste with phylactery and CTS trinkets is DFO absolutely better then phylactery when it comes to min maxing just want to know how to hit the 1600 haste cap 2. In the guide u said something about snap shot on your corruption could you tell us when is the best time to do that and in some certain moments as well

ICC bis is actually one of my weak points, most private servers are completely dead (aside from iceclown) by the time ur in full ICC bis. in icc bis with 30% buff and mega short fights i would personally go with phylac + CTS but not entirely sure tbh 2. snapshot your corruption on pull and at 35% with tricks and t10 4pc. i've got an entire snapshot vid on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGPKpmaXmN-Knrc here

Immolate never Rain of fire is used on the last tick of a trash pack if seed wont explode or i cant get a cast off quick enough Searing pain is more for heroics or trash packs if i know shadowbolt wont land

I heard that demo locks want tailoring/JC to min max. Would you agree? Compared to enchanting, you lack 2 SP over JC once the epic gems are out, so if you think JC is good for demo, would you say that the lack of 2 SP is still acceptable?

i'd say if u want to truly minmax u can go JC+tailor for t7 (should give u highest sp) and for t8 and beyond you 100% need engineering. Demo is immobile and too important to die with. I would never play beyond t8 as warlock without engineering, and tailoring is gonna be most beneficial for snapping your pact buff.

on opener if you have an on use, do you snapshot your corruption with onuse or engi haste gloves?

corruption only snapshots crit % and damage % buffs/debuff, so sp and haste doesn't get snapshotted. i use those things on pull just because theyre higher damage overall tho. Go check out the snapshotting guide cause i don't go into detail here (its in the afflock playlist) snapshotting is pretty complex so deserved its own vid

Recently got into WOW (bought a full on gaming pc for this) am a level 32 warlock atm….I am trash in terms of dotting but I do try my best it gets very overwhelming maintaining all the dots…I love the class is just a big learning curve for me…I used to main a healer on the first Guild Wars, and alted a tank as well so dps is very new to me…

The hand haste buff from engineering is huge due to Quick decay glyph and snapshotting corruption in fact it had to be neutered in late ICC because locks were too high

im used to it at this point tbh. it definitely sucks but u dont have a choice as affliction without losing out on damage :\ I think theres an argument that going 1/2 nightfall and getting an extra 10% range on some fights would give you more dps though

How come you're not using curse of doom instead of curse of agony? Also, is there no use for the curse of elements? Does another class apply the debuff? Thanks for the video, very educational

generally agony is going to lead to more dps on pure single target fight. If you're multidotting (think a fight like IC HM) it makes sense to have a doom on a secondary target instead of trying to manage a full line of dots on 2 targets. I do think there's some merit to doing doom towards the end of a fight (let's say you're going to lust at 40% hp and the boss will die in exactly 1min 01 seconds. If you doom before drain phase starts it'd probably be more dps than wasting multiple globals in drain phase etc) but it's all situational and really it's so close to agony damage that it's kinda w/e curse of elements has a lot of use especially on fights where you're target swapping a lot (or in 10mans). it shares with unholy dk/boomkin but their uptime requires them to be actively hitting that target or using pestilence. There are many scenarios where i've seen the debuff drop off and it's annoying (worms in ToC come to mind) ty for watching

nah it's almost never worth clipping cause you could just let those dots tick through and blast shadowbolts with haste/sp procs. i'm not gonna say 100% of the time cause there is probably a scenario where you'd get a double trinket proc & perfectly clip a UA early for example, but the likeliness of that is real low. you'd have to have something telling you time between each tick and incorporate your own lag/cast time etc. I personally never clip but ye not ruling it out completely.

@@Ed-pd5hl full t7 bis aff lock sports around 3300 sp. blood fury gives 163sp for 15s every 2min (1/8 uptime) or ~20 sp average (slightly higher cuz u can combine blood fury with procs etc) 33 sp would be ~1% dmg, so undead probably does 0.5-1% less damage total, and the difference gets even less impactful as the game progresses (163 sp means more when you have 3300sp vs when you're in icc bis and have 5500+ sp, for example)

yep for tier 7 it will. for t8 and beyond all fights (especially hard/heroic mode) will have long enough length for aff to shine and be #1 imo

affliction honestly isnt bad just because your talents synergize with seed and do more damage than any other spec, but i personally play destro in 5mans because i can full blast and shadowfury after pulling threat. demo is good but i think people really overestimate how much impact demo form+meta does when the mobs die so quickly. so for me destro -> aff -> demo in 5mans

at 54:45 you say that you need to be close to the boss to reduce haunt travel time to cast more shadow bolts. This only applies to the start of the fight where if you cast your first haunt at max range, and then gradually move close to the boss, you can maybe cast 1 more shadow bolt. It doesn't give you any more shadow bolts than max 1, because you need to cast a haunt every 12 seconds (or whatever the duration is), and the distance from the boss doesn't make it any different.

yea my point is it's common practice to be max range and then be forced into casting haunt early to ensure 100% uptime haunt is 8s cd, 12s duration ~1.2sec cast, has around 2sec traveltime at max range shadowbolt is ~2sec cast, has around 2sec traveltime by being directly on top of the boss and with haste to make up for any lag you're basically able to fit another shadowbolt into your rotation every 12sec in place of just haunting ofc u cant do it every fight cuz u dont want to really be in melee, not every fight stands still, etc but ur general idea should be to get as close as u can as much as possible

the guide is good but as an affli main its not perfect yet. talents : fel concentration is a must even a single pushback on drain soul is more dps loss than anything nightfall can give you. 70% means pushback immune w pala aura. btw it also works on haunt and UA. nightfall is a very weak talent. its the value of 2 free shadow bolts every 5min. imp life tap provides the same but its not rng dependent. lower talents are a must, you never ever will take dark pact even if the compendium on warmane forums talks about it simply because you wait for mechanics when you have to move to life tap most of the time, dark pact is 100% useless your pet goes oom in 2 casts and needs to be able to bite to get its mana back. other talents are way too valuable to even drop 1p for it. the talents are 100% fixed ecxept for 2p you can decide between nightfall curse amp or imp tap. early on 1p curse amp is better but t8 on it gets useless w haste. stat values: the fixed stat values on warmane guides make zero sense. it all depends on how much SP you got. in general in t7 to t9 : SP >>> haste >> crit >= spirit. late t9 to t10 haste > SP. in t7 spirit > crit. in t9 t10 crit > spirit. tailo is theoretical more dps than jc but in t7 jc gets epic gems over blue ones not normal epic ones dont forget this. i personaly play jc because i know how to make gold w it and i like the consistency of it vs snapshot randomness of the cloak proc + procs are always weaker vs permanents. progress and mechanics wise. tailo is defo better on patchwerk but thats only 1 boss

Affli also gets NIC, a special trinket w the launch of icc dungeons. its from pos hc ots very easy to get and its almost as strong as icc 25m hc phylactery etc for affli only. this already puts you ahead of the game even before new icc wings are open

-0 pt fel concentration is only for t7 -early game sure imp lifetap prob outweighs going 2/2 nightfall instead of 1/2, but even then its minor and late game you dont need mana nearly as much (especially with wotlk classic boss kill times -dark pact - sure, on paper its going to give more mana and on a fight like saurfang would be fine but yh -again t7 who rly cares, i go for max patchwerk value cuz thats only fight any1 cares about -no shot haste outweighs sp in t10. in t9 it wouldnt be awful cuz ur haste is so low with t9 4p but even then id never gem haste over sp. and yea stat weights are gonna change every tier for example hit rating is most valuable in icc, crit becomes way more valuable -hard disagree, procs are always better on a class like aff lock because you should be timing lifetaps after procs. only time itd be worse is if its heavy movement fight and in that case your dmg is gonna suffer anyway and ye NMIC is big
