Recreational vehicle travel has become increasingly popular among China’s middle class. In 2015, China had about 30,000 RVs, but in 2021, the number grew to 283,000. Many retirees have become RV owners and begun adopting a nomadic lifestyle despite it going against social norms in China.

China is a big country with lots of different places to explore. The road network is relatively new and growing, perfect for the RV lifestyle. If language wasn't such a barrier I think many foreign RV enthusiasts would love to travel around China by road too.

I live in the Netherlands. So often called one of the best countries in the world. Well, momentarily I live in an old school that will be demolished in June because there are no affordable houses. I am not the youngest person but still part of the workforce and plenty of years to go until retirement when there will be no pension left. So a couple of years ago I decided that if I want to retire without living in poverty I need to get out of this country. This is where everything comes together. Because I need to leave this place and I need another place to live, I might buy a (used) RV in preparation of my future. Because living in an RV is relatively cheap I can save up some money and retire early. There are people who live in an RV on a constant bases. I have never done this and I have no idea what it will be like but I hope it is something for me because there are not many alternatives for me here.

Countries that are on my list are Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbeidzjan. Ones I decide to go I will never look back. By the way, living in an RV in the Netherlands is only legal under certain circumstances. Having a list with countries is one thing but when things get (economically) really bad here, I may just go, just drive. Just see where I end up. I have saved up a little money and I just have to see how far it will take me.

I don't understand why the creators of this clip attached such a "comical" and childish music score to it that would be more appropriate for a cartoon. We don't do that to videos about RV'ing in the U.S., as we take it seriously and view it as a free-spirited and independent lifestyle, on this monetary level. It seems that anything about older retirees pulls in the jokester journalists and video makers, but it escapes me as to why it is funny that after working many years and saving diligently to stay independent we are to view older people as secondary citizens.

I am Chinese, and the first 8 items are all correct, but the last item is a bit problematic. Tickets for tourist attractions are very expensive and unreasonable. Of course, the vast natural scenery and human culture are free.

One of the biggest obstacle to RV popularity is the government itself especially its overjealous Transport Ministry. Unlike the west, eastern countries deliberate attempt to put up unneccessary regulations makes it difficult for people to innovate and promote RV.

Not sure about that. There has been a massive upsurge in RV importation and manufacturing lately, especially in China, Japan, and South Korea, with oher countries like the Philippines following suit.

@@ianhomerpura8937 in the west, you can DIY a RV. In the east, you cant as it against most transportation laws. Buying a RV from oversea will cost 5 times more as you have to pay import duties.

Not accurate. Test this concept = retiree with incontinence need to bring toilet(wheelchair accessible) = retiree with weak legs need wide doors with handles and steps = retiree bring maid and wheelchair(use as portable-chair) need ramp = retiree need 2 naps in day time, maybe sleep 5 times a day in total, recliner chair and space = retiree need harder cushion to prevent buttocks vein compression = retiree need water and retractable-table(heating-warmer integrated) for light snacks and tea = retiree need motel carparking with height(either not so high roof or open carpark) because they can afford to sleep in motor-hotel(motel) at night. = adult diaper changing room with nurse helping partitioning-blinds...
