Sport tourers are back. They were big business right through the ‘90s, but the advent of mile-munching adventure bikes saw then fall from favour among the wider bike-buying public. But the tides have been turning over the last few years, and now there’s a growing range of options if you like your rides sporty but still comfortable.
That’s where these two come in; Yamaha’s Tracer 7 GT and CFMoto 700MT. The Tracer’s a big name in this sector, but it’s often the bigger 9 that gets all the love - while the CF’s a comparatively unknown quantity, new in 2023 but with some shared components from its range of rides which have more than proved themselves over the past few years.
Closely matched in terms of performance, but with a whopping £4000 difference in price, we thought we’d swipe them for a few days and see how they compare on a 500-mile jaunt through the North of England; starting in the Peak District and finishing at the top of the Yorkshire Dales. Loaded up with luggage and kitted out with a set of CST’s Ride Migra sport touring tyres, we thought we were ready for anything - but the weather had other ideas…
Big thanks to CST Tyres for the fresh hoops and for helping to make the trip happen. Thanks for watching.
