The turbo issue depends with the engine. Small engines can't withstand the pressure from a turbo for a long time leading to wear and tear. However, larger engines may withstand the pressure for long. Still a naturally aspirated engine is the best if you intend to keep your car for long.

Turbos are only designed for diesel engines.....since diesel engines are stiffer...stronger and have high compression hence they can withstand pressure from the turbo

Very good point on turbo/supercharged petrol engined cars.Their longterm reliability is iffy coz of the increased stress they have to endure due to the forced induction. Diesel engines are built tougher to handle the extra pressure of compression induced combustion and thus can handle forced induction( turbos) better. A small point to consider when buying these type of vehicles.

As a Forester owner, I’d not put it on this list, even if it’s the NA ones. Are they available under 3M? Yeah. Are they easy to maintain? No. Not really. Foresters are reliable in that if you buy the *original* parts only, they last for a reasonably long time. But Foresters are made for the owner to adhere to a stricter maintenance schedule than other Japanese cars. And Kenyans are *PATHETIC* about looking after their cars. For example, they will ‘save’ on that CVT fluid change every 30k km because it’s expensive.’ But buying another transmission will cost you more. Given how Kenyans behave, Wokabi, I’d strike Foresters off this list. Same as the Outlander. They come from one larger family & have similar maintenance requirements that Kenyans will totally neglect. I’d rather put the Outback in this list as it’s more tolerant to some slight neglect. On the turbo, I’ve seen 300,000 km 2L turbocharged engines that still have some life in them. It’s all about maintenance. Engines lesser than 2L w/ a turbo are the ones that won’t last over time. And the RAV4 is definitely the king of this list.
@Dankioko2 жыл бұрын
I don't know where you got 30k kms as the change interval for cvt oil. The manual and the people at subaru kenya say otherwise. Its also a well known fact that original parts last longer and tend to be more expensive across the board.
