I went shopping for work clothes and filmed a video to show you them. I hope this video shows you that funeral directors can wear clothing other than suits if the time and place allows.

I would have to say “The Target” outfit but my niece is a manager at a Target store and she would chastise me if I picked one of the other ones. It does look good on you too. As for “Old Navy”, I used to think it was some kind of war surplus store. Yes, I am an idiot.

The first funeral home I worked in had a crazy dress code. Our uniforms were GREEN!!! Also, women were not allowed to wear pants--skirts only. And they had to wear nylons and heels--no exceptions of any kind.

It doesn't really matter what we think of the outfits. What matters is how you feel about yourself while you are wearing them. A nice color to pair with black is a deep wine.

I'm a 56yo gay man and I think you always look good. Some Red leather gloves would look good with the black dress. I like the pearls that is such a classy look with black. You also need a more simple single string of not too big pearls like a choker with your turtlenecks too for times when you want to keep it simple 😄

Love love love your choices. I’m 70 and I see your outfits wearable at work or play. My father passed last year in Minneapolis and buried at Lakewood Cemetery (very upscale). A young gal assisted at the funeral and her dress code was very disappointing to a point where my sister and i filled out a comment card after the service. She was in very faded black Jeans and a black low cut v-neck. She also lit a cigarette in plain view of the family.

How about doing a blog on how and what to dress your loved ones in...dos and don’t. I know you cannot tell a family what put on their loved ones, but as a LFD, what do you suggest. Great job shopping!

Target wins by a mile and is most appropriate for working in a funeral home. In my cousin's FH the women working there cannot wear pants so you are very lucky in that respect. In the spring and summer, it is light tan's and in winter everyone wheres Navy Blue. Buy the way his funeral home pays for all of the clothing worn by full-time employees. He is very successful so he can more than afford it. Glad your back again and hope your family is doing well.

JRW- Wow! 😯 I am shocked that they are able to get away with that in this day and age! And I am even more shocked that no one has ever complained about or challenged the dress code for women at your cousin's funeral home. Is he even aware that we are now in the year 2019?! Maybe someone should get him a calendar for Christmas! It is absolutely sexist and discriminatory to demand that his female employees wear skirts. A woman can look just as well put together and professional in a pant suit and a sensible pair of flats as she can in a skirt and heels. If I were aware that such a policy were in place at a specific funeral home, I would choose to take my business elsewhere. If enough people did that, I can guarantee you that they would change their tune in a hurry! Sexism is no different from any other form of prejudice or discrimination. It is wrong, and while it is a lot easier to just keep quiet and go along with it, it is not the right thing to do. Things will never change that way!

I'm in mortuary school now. Do we always have to wear black? Is grey or other neutral colors okay? I have animals and they shed and all black is a no. I love the look of it, but I cannot possibly keep black completely hair free😫

other colors are fine! Depends on your dress code but muted colors like navy, grays, and browns should be good as well!

I'm 19 years old currently going to be in early graduate in December of this year. Well I had a dream of becoming a mortician if not working what you're doing. Well me being partially blind. I'm pretty sure that last one it was no. I was told that I wouldn't be able to go to college, I have no high school credits, is that I should not be thinking about going to college. I also would not be receiving a diploma, but I would be receiving a certificate of completion. Hardest question please don't mind, what I still be able to partially work in a funeral parlor, helping out? Or would I have to take a GED test or something, is there something that I could do? That could cover up a possible diploma and I know for sure I'm not going to receive one I'm sorry I was going to put I'm pretty sure my last meeting Put that in there. Sorry if there are some mistakes, like I have stated I'm partially blind. But anyways I was going to type out I know in my last meeting it was not helpful information as I hoped for

Good morning, my employer who I have been friends with Sense we were young has a dress code for us and that is if we are working in close to the office we need to be in dress slacks and a tie calling hours is a suit and tie the day of the funeral is a Black suit tie .Removals now this is depending on what type of situation we are going to ( sure you know what I am talking about ) would be Dress Slacks and a Polo Shirt or if we are going to another Funeral Home we are in a suit and tie , love your channel I have learned a lot of things from it/you.
