Is he saying tourmaline is an ingredient in the ADA Power Sand?? I've used black tourmaline as hardscape/decor pebbles in my first aquascape I set up last year and it did way better than the second scape I tried with amethyst and garnet sand - I was wondering if that might be a reason why.

One thing I was curious about is what would happen to the tank if you put in that monster soil system WITHOUT upgrading the lighting and adding CO2. Obviously there was a bunch of algae here with just the co2 and the stock lighting, but there also weren't any water changes for a month. Would you just be wasting money and forcing yourself into a lot of extra water changes by using the high-powered substrate with low tech equipment?

I started watching you about a year ago. Got a small 25l tank for a betta. Going to be picking up the same tank you used today for a new build. Thank you

That tank looks absolutely stunning. Dave sure does know his stuff. I'm not sure about the color rendition of the ADA light, I think I prefer the chihiros WRGB2. I noted down a few species of plants I'll be using in my next aquascape.

Great experience for me Astoudishing (though quite obvious) how the equipment gives the Ada touch of greenery stright away. And obviously the knowledge and experience of Dave, and Md. Love it.

The Superfish Scaper 90 is great! Not small but also not too big. I've got mine on a Juwel Lido cabinet. It was actually cheaper than the Superfish cabinet and the even colour fits better with the surroundings. Superfish scaper tanks deserve high end aquascapes! I've dry started my tank and made a carpet of monte carlo using my home grown stock. Basically a tub with soil and clay balls where it grows emersed till I need some. Dry starting to get a carpet or moss cover works a treat with the Superfish light.

I love the darker wood and elder stone. The contrast between the buce and stem plants is really pretty. Such an interesting scape IMO ❤

MD can I just say in the last few years you have truely inspired me, I started at age 12 and went from all artificial plants to full on low tech aquascapes, I am now 16. Your methods are what I swear by, and it works every time! (That is besides the scapes that I do and end up not liking😂) but you need to know (you already probably do) that you have inspired so many people!!! I have just started my largest tank around the same size as you discuss tank currently, and it’s a little scary, but I am using all your methods and all is going amazing so far! All my tanks are through your inspiration! I just want to thank you!!!!!

Love seeing you working with talented aquascapers and seeing different methods / styles of scaping. Have you ever looked into Pond Life Aquatics? They're based in London and do the most beautiful ponds and scapes. If you ever look into doing a pond, I'd strongly recommend Pond Life. They also started making their own content on KZbin too! I know they can travel nation wide and would love to see you work with them!

Enjoyed watching this tank come to its final scape with fish very nicely done. The lighted back ground did change the light tint of the Ada light. However I did like the darker black background better, but that is a personal taste. I believe the darker back ground pops the color better of the fish. I would have like to seen the Ada light with the darker background I think the plants color would pop more against the black background. Again personal preference. I think this setup is definitely a the way Takashi Amano would have liked it to be. It got his vibe about it. Good job guys. I wished we had store like your friend who setup this aquarium near me. But sadly many of the product are not available in my area of the USA. Definitely no super fish aquariums even online. Wish they could make a way into America. I really like their aquarium kits much better than what is available here.

I think that's like our 20 gallon tanks here in Canada ... I have two of those and a 5 gallon. The 20 gallon is as big as I want to go so I can look after everything myself (lifting it if needed to set up or take down). I have one by my desk and one in our living area. The 5 gallon has neocaridina shrimp in the dinning room.

It is stylish indeed. Contributes massively as a room decoration, something like Japanese style. But I like more your style. Plus, as you have noticed, for fish is a strong negative impact to go from the jungle style where they felt protected, in an open space like this one, completely exposed in "daylight". Terrifying!

Ya know it would be nice for a change to also see the "ugly" phase of a tank when the emerse growth dies off and your tank looks like a failure. This channel only shows how beautiful everything is but it never shows people the reality of buying and planting emerse growing plants and the phase when they lose all that growth you bought. you basically always buy a root system cause the actual plants cant live underwater. they surive maybe up to a month or a week but then they die off.
@MDFishTanks15 сағат бұрын
I think maybe your getting a different experience to most mate so I don't blame you for thinking this way, but 90% of plants don't die off. The only ones that really do for me is crypts and sometimes java ferns depending on the source/age. All the plants in this tank for instance apart from the crypt flamingo have gone from strength to strength and will continue to do so. The crypt is now bouncing back as they often do and can just about see the bright pink poking through in the final shots.
