Thanks for sharing. Yes I agree that tools from Lidl , Aldi and Poundland are great value. I have brought metal rulers, modelling knives, files, clamps. You are right that they are not always available. But they are great value. I have 10 large tubes of Uhu , which I brought from Poundland years ago. Now they sell mini tubes for a pound. Thanks again for sharing.

After it’s demise I upgraded to a black and decker, lasted just over 12 months! So back to Lidl for another sander…. I’ve other tools by Parkside too and highly recommend them. 😁👍🍀🇨🇮

I'm lucky enough to live in close proximity to two LIDLs, and there's one right by my studio. They've been very useful for modelling tools and materials, but I'm going to check them out again! I wouldn't mind those micro drill bits.

I don't have a convenient Lidl near me, but I do have 3 Aldis, I've bought a number of modelling tools from Aldi. In particular I recommend the subsonic jewelry bath, which I would say has cut my stripping time in half, obviously for smaller components.

Excellent video mate! Thanks I've been stocking up on Lidl and Aldi tools and powertools for the last few years from small hand held things up to table saw & stand, garden multi tool, impact guns drill socket sets full spanner set all sorts of stuff! You have to check the reviews and shop wisely as some is brilliant quality and some is cheap crap, (especially when they change their suppliers!) But generally if youre careful you can build a solid tool kit and set of equipment for a fraction of the price of buying big brands and usually 3year warranty! So you can't go wrong really! 👍😎

I find interesting to see how things are done in the UK and Europe looking at it from an United States of American view because by and large we in America don't have Aldi or Lidl, but we have Walmart, and Harbor Freight that we can get cheap supplies for modelling.

McDonald's has disposable little cups that are perfect for mixing small amounts of glue or paint and they have the sticks for stirring it, all conveniently stored in the same place (near the sauce dispensers).

I use the caps off milk containers for small amounts, and cut the container base off for larger amounts (and brush cleaning etc). The kitchen supplies them faster than I can use them!

I'm a Parkside diehard myself and use that magnifier with all my watchmaking stuff and I keep missing the vice set as they sell out almost immediately as a lot of folk in the watch community seek them out as very good for holding cases for opening up or precision work. My older purchases are the Parkside cordless drill which has lasted me years, along with its sister impact driver and the cordless rotary tool and accessory kit has done sterling work and I chucked my old Dremel as the Parkside one is far superior. One thing with Parkside and Ferrex from Aldi is they are most made in Germany, no dubious sweat shop factories and quite a few ppl I know call Parkside poor mans Metabo or Bosch.

I did go one above the magnifier in sourcing on ebay an ex RAF photograph examination lens on a anglepoise heavy duty arm, that thing has a fluorescent ring bulb and I modded it with an arm I built that I can swing in under the powerful lens an even more powerful intense lens giving me about 75x magnification but under a very bright light and I can examine the super fine textures on a five pound note with amazing clarity.

I am new to the channel, thank you. Just wanted to add an important tip I recently learned about the small wire brushes. Sometimes cheap wire brushes just fly apart needling you in the process. If you take a couple of drops of CA gel glue at the base you can at least arrest the disintegration to get your value from the brush, it is cheap insurance and seems to work well.

I personally like the Lidl and Aldi tool range I've purchased a lot over the years and I'm still wait waiting for the combi drill and driver with long cable to come back round as I just missed it last time it was on the shelf. As an aside one of the staff members at my local Lidl informed me that they usually have roughly 13 weeks for things to rotate in their middle of Lidl range but this can vary sometimes and be a bit sooner due to seasonal sales plans

Nice video. I always keep my eye out in them two. I bought the drills and the hand vice set the same as you and they are really worth the money. I have also picked up a load of good quality stuff in the past. I always look at the websites to see what's in the middle aisle and what's coming up. Bought some really nice compartment boxes from there the same time as the drills etc. Any fire extinguisher is good in a workshop, but I would go for a 2 Kg CO2, yes they cost more but letting off a powder one in an enclosed space is not a good idea and will literally take you weeks possibly months the clean up afterwards, the powder is so fine it gets everywhere. They are small and that's why they are used in motorhomes etc, as said they do the job and are considered to be the most effective, but that comes at a price of the clean up afterwards. Still I suppose that's better than completely losing a £50 grand plus motorhome. If you have the space a CO2 is cleaner.

Those 'sealing washers' are actually O rings. Lidl tools can be remarkable value- shame it is a lottery what they have in at any time.

more realistic to say Lidl stock these things once or twice per year so largely pot luck if you can buy them as they refuse to have an online option. I go to Lidl every week and have never seen some of these items as my branch only takes a few of each item as they are not big sellers in my area so get very limited shop space. I agree with your assessment of the "Dremel" bits, I also note you use a Dremel and not Parkside's own version !

Went to a local Michael's, craft store, looking for whatever, and their tree packs were a little expensive. then I found two packs of trees autumn colors for only $2. they're selling the four trees for near $7 dollars. So 3 two packs =a dollar saved n two more trees. So I went to another Michaels about 20 minutes from the house and scored again. Even our local Walmart's, grocery, department, or super stores almost always has a super hidden item. Take your time and hit every aisle

I got a set of 25 metric spanners, from ALDI. Really good quality. Also from ALDI, I got several sets of screwdrivers, including the 7 piece set, with the through shafts, and the 105 piece bit set, which includes quite a few bits for anti-tamper screws. The one really big item I got, was the Ferrex free standing table saw.

Lidl, their Parkside soldering iron wasn't much good. I had the battery Dremel tool, ok for a while, but the lock button fell out and motor went noisy. Always buy Antex soldering irons, the bits last longer than the cheap irons from bottom end shops.

As a Goldsmith and part time modeler and hobbyist I find myself in a position to look for tools that I can use in my professional work and as a hobbyist. Now while we here (in the USA) have both Aldi and the Lidl stores (like Europe), our stores (here in the USA) regretfully do not sell either Electronics or Hobbyist Tools unlike our European cousins. Why this is, I have no idea, but it's sad. Many times (in my travels) I have found tools (as well as methods) that I can use from other countries (and people) to make better products and I gladly incorporate both these tools and/or methods to my best ability. I know (for myself anyway) that I do not care where my tools come from, or who makes them, as long as they are well made and do a good job whenever I need them... Thanks... Joe... 😃

As we found out from a recent fire safety inspection at our workshop... power extinguishers are only really advised for cars... it will ruin your workshop more than the fire if you use it.. they recommend a wet chemical instead.

From experience May I suggest that you use the powder fire extinguisher to throw through the window to get rid of the smoke one buy a more suitable extinguisher for the workshop. To illustrate my point imagine getting.5of a kilo of talcum powder and throwing it in front of a fast fan pointing into the workshop. The damage to you models would be terrible it would get absolutely everywhere.

Hey George, maybe you could use that box to find the correct size you need, then find a bag or box that has more, for a cheaper price! Dave's suggestion is still valid, just adapt it to suit your needs. And it's been a while since I really looked, but the last time I noted tires being used as bumpers in a harbor, they had a bunch of different sizes and styles of tire: big knobby tractor tires, and smaller auto tires. But that's the cool things about this hobby - take what someone else uses and fit it into what you need. And forgive me for being dense George, but what does the "FS" mean? Thanks.
