Dropping supplies to troops in Afghanistan. I originally had this video with Rage Against The Machine playing in the background, but KZbin took it out.

Hey there Pathfinders. I show this clip to my USO volunteers and they are amazed at the fantastic work you men and women did during our deployment. It totally motivates my volunteers to see how they are indirectly supporting you then, now, and in the future. Keep being awesome!

it looks a lot like a valley that spent some quality time in. It was in Zabul OEF 2011-2012.

The chute failed to deploy and the load went out the plane and straight into the ground (2:11). Its very hard to see, but if you look right before the impact you can see the load in the air and the long this failed chute above it...looks like a thin cigar, so hard to see.

One pallet didn't make it. Look at the bottom of the screen at 2:56.

I also saw something hit the dirt at 2:11. Is this the bottom of the pallet that's designed to be discarded or did something get destroyed? Either way, I'm impressed with the accuracy, I'd guess a ground speed of about 250 - 300 knots. Dropped just outside of that hamlet. EDIT: 2:11 is played back in slow motion at 2:56. No chute or did something else come apart?

awesome! Looks like one hit the ground without deploying though after they all are dropped you can see what looks like an impact of some kind

Thanks! I'm on a little netbook, I'll need to take another look on the bigger screen later. Too bad you lost the audio, I'd guess the band would have supported you using their music.

@ Charles - We don't use FOB names, we use DZ (drop zone) names. Those names are classified in the AOR.

Amazing that you don't get the irony of you playing RATM as an occupying imperial force.

What impacts the ground after the airdrop? You can see the sand disturbed, I didn't notice any chutes fail. Bottom of the frame at 2:11. Thanks!

How many lives were saved or not injured by doing a Airdrop, instead of a Combat Logistic Patrol? I don't know but I bet a few. Well done to a highly skilled crew all, Pilots, Navigators, Cargo Handlers and Parachute Packers to name a few.
good eye. I have packed thousands or parachutes for people...maybe the air force should hire me...lol!

Oops! Lost two. One fell from the chute and the other just plummeted with a collapsed chute.

You're right, the Taliban/Al Queda was a peaceful alternative religious group, not a religious police state with vastly more human rights atrocities than the subject of Killing in the Name (The LA Riots/Police abuses).
