The birth mother tells Jaynie that she knows that she is not ready to call her birth parents "Mom and Dad", and yet her birth family calls her "Jenny" instead of the name she grew up with. Makes no sense to me.

Those were her real parents yeah I mean it’s hard for a kidnapped child to see their real parents cause they aren’t used to them
@Jennafu83212 жыл бұрын
No, but the law recognizes biological parents over adoptive ones, especially in cases where the child was kidnapped. Janie is still a minor, and as such, she is still under legal guardianship of the Sands. Notice that I call her "Janie", not "Jennifer." Asking her to go by "Jennifer" is totally wrong, and dismisses that she has had another identity for years outside her biological family. She hasn't been "Jennifer" since she was three years old.
@aromusbaspet90326 жыл бұрын
Exactly. She didn't spend over a decade of her life in an enchanted sleep which has now been ended. She was living her life. Growing up in a place she always thought of as home, watched over and loved by a man and woman she knew as father and mother. Knowing that she was born Jennifer Sands doesn't mean she's going to suddenly turn into the teenage version of that little girl who was kidnapped. That girl doesn't exist and a court order's not going to change that. I feel so sorry for everyone involved in this situation because it is so effed up.
@nukapuka5 жыл бұрын
She should not be. Satan's system. A girl can be married way earlier than 16 so it is crazy how it works. Also a lot of parents treat 3 year olds like adults yet 13 year olds like silly kids. I would not want to be in their shous on judgement day.
@Jennafu83212 жыл бұрын
I agree. The Sands would have been far more successful had they made the choice to give Janie some space, and let her come to them gradually. Through their own pain, they made Janie's life a living hell, separating her from the only real family she's ever known and expecting her to jump right back into her biological family without ever really knowing them.
@llamabrat075 жыл бұрын
Jennafu832, in real life the child s given a transition period at a foster family before going back to their biological family, and undergoes counseling to help them understand what’s going on. They wouldn’t be simply ripped away from the only family they’ve known and immediately tossed into a new life with parents that know them, but that they don’t know.

@4evaiheartu I have read all four books in the series and in "Whatever Happened to Janie" he has A LOT of pent up anger and resentment towards Janie, but in the fourth installment in the series, he has gone away to college and he comes to terms with he screwed up childhood and he and Janie develop a real sibling relationship. The 3rd &4th books are "The Voice on the Radio" and "What Janie Found."

They went through a lot too, not knowing what happened to their sister, not being able to do anything due to over cautious parents and dealing with a mother who would chase after strangers to look at their daughter to see if it was hers.

The Brother pushed her down in the shoe store, he feels he is to blame and that is why he is acting out at Jennie right? Because when he pushed her down she was upset and ran away from him. How did Hannah lure Janie/Jennie away? I'm going to have to check out these books.

although i sympothize w/ the sands & i believe that they should have the opportunity to bond w/ their daughter, i think they are being a bit premature w/ there expectations. she has not seen them since she was 3 & holds no real memories of their family. what she does know is the people who raised her & as unfortunate as that reality maybe, uprouting her so quickly is undoubtedly a tough pill to swallow. maybe they should have gradually made the transition.

The bio family goes about everything the wrong way. Don't they realize that in 2 short years, Janie would be 18 and a legal adult? That realistically, their behavior would be something for her to endure for 2 years and then she could cut her ties with them? I mean, really. They should be attempting to make her want to stay in touch with them even when it's not legally required for her to do so. Ugh.

She's 16. They should let her get emancipated and that way she could pick who she wants to live with for the time being. She eventually with time will start to connect with her REAL family. It's not like most cases which the child is usually abused and never shown real love. The Jessmans thought this was their granddaughter and have had her in their lives for 13 years. She just found out that hannah was her mom, who really wasn't her mom. and that she was kidnapped. Give the kid some room.
