HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. Parting vs Innovation G1 was legit one of the BEST, most IMPRESSIVE, most CREATIVE games of SC2 I've EVER seen! I wish the observer highlighted it better, but the big fight at 15:49 (14:25 gametime) was mindblowing. Parting had already planned the surround and started setting up from the moment Innovation moved out after losing his 3rd. He was keeping multiple HTs located around the map, ready to flank armies with storm or perhaps feedback drops, hence all the great defensive storms throughout the game. He had 3 HTs at the center left (which had been sitting there since 14:11, or 12:45 gametime, 1 minute 40 seconds before the big fight), and 1 HT at the bottom left near those proxy pylons (sitting there since 12:23, or 10:55 gametime, 3.5 minutes before the big fight). He brought all 4 of those HTs and arrived just at the perfect moment to get that BEAUTIFUL 360 surround, even using the accelerator fields to help get those amazing storm flanks. But wait, it wasn't just those 4 HT's storms. There was 1 crucial storm right at the start of the battle on the left, which whiffed. But that was all Parting needed to make sure Innovation would run to the RIGHT and thus get surrounded by the army. And with Parting splitting half of his army onto the high ground on the right , which Innovation didn't seem to notice, Innovation also sieged up a few seconds late. Like holy shit, that was just mindblowing! That was one of the most incredible moments I've ever seen in the history of SC2. Do you realize how difficult (or lucky) it is to get a 4 angle surround, let alone with HTs storming at the perfect time? Each of the 4 angles were executed with perfect timing and positioning. When you're watching pros, good Storms feel like a given, but if you tried playing Protoss you would be surprised at how slow HTs actually move and how limited the 9 range feels. If your positioning is slightly off, it means a storm can be precious seconds too late, or your storm will whiff. But what we saw was those 4 HTs arriving shortly after another to get several seconds of chain storm on the whole army. You don't often see surrounds like this in pro games other than perhaps Serral, because they are highly committal and the execution is incredibly difficult and the consequences for failure are severe. But it is a beauty when it pays off! From the crazy proxy and fights around the rocks in the early game with how Parting somehow saved his Robo and chased off the Marauders with his Immortal, to Parting trying to defend two very spread out bases with pylons/HTs located all over the map against Innovation's ruthless harass in the mid game, all that culminated into that pivotal fight where Parting demonstrated a masterpiece of an engagement. This is like a map maker's dream come true, the whole design of the center of the map and the location of the bases is so interesting and I'm glad we were able to see a game fully highlight its features, from the unique pathing with the bridges with accelerators, to the rocks, to the Rich Gas bases. Absolutely incredible reactions and flexibility from Innovation, but even MORE incredible play from Parting. It is insane how good these players are, yet people say the "skill" of players now is lower than back then. This game is literally like a dream come true, from start to finish this game has been so unique with amazing responses by both players put into very weird and uncomfortable situations. And Innovation's dive onto Parting's Disruptor army was so bold and almost gave me a heartattack, but Parting got good Novas off. After that it felt like Innovation again might be able to end Parting with his drops and with how weak Parting's army looked, and I was ready to feel heartbroke if Parting lost or threw after all the beauty that happened so far. (I feel like his HTs were working real well but he stopped making them, but I suppose in small number they are not reliable vs Ghosts). But those 3/3 Gateway units vs 2/1 Bio are really strong I guess! I wish the game were able to continue a bit longer and culminate into another climax, and it might have if Innovation just defended once he got 5 bases up instead of attacking at the end, but it was a great great game nonetheless. Absolutely beautiful play from both players, I'm just speechless. One of the greatest SC2 games ever!!! You can't ask for a better game than that unless you wanted it to also end with the map mined out and a big Carrier vs BC war or something xD 10/10!!!

Great review! I think the observer and casters also miss HT flank around 15:18 where PartinG bring a warp prism with HT storm drop to further halt INnoVation's army to defend his third base, you can see that part more clearly from PartinG's point of view VOD, INnoV's Viking shut down that warp prism instantly after that though Here's PartinG's point of view : vod.afreecatv.com/PLAYER/STATION/59258176

He beat Maru in long Bo5 in some long 15 minute + games. PartinG is one of the best players to watch right now.. He's great in all areas of the game - macro, game knowledge, decision making, creativity, innovation, strategy, and has absolute God-Tier micro. He prefers to play unorthodox because that's his style.. and he's so damn good at it. Nobody plays like PartinG while still getting the results he does. @whirlwind8724 жыл бұрын
@@scarredable No way man, think about it - it's not worth it for players to throw matches when they have a very real chance of being eliminated in the losers match. PLUS, match fixing will get you permanently banned from playing starcraft professionally, as seen with Life (former world champion who would have been one of the best players of all time if he didn't try to match fix). It's not worth it for a player to risk their career, their honor, and their legacy - nor is it worth them bringing shame to the game they have invested their life into.
@whirlwind8724 жыл бұрын
@@eialves6263 Inno's push would have decimated parting if he didn't do everything exactly perfect - he had an observer on Inno's army so he was in position in an arc so tank splash was ineffective, he had a shield battery with overcharge, he saved the sentry for guardian shield, and he instantaneously pulled every probe at his natural and surrounded the tanks while the stalkers focused them. If even a single one of those things wasn't done right, he would have been decimated. Remember guardian shield is a huge deal, its literally like having +2 armor upgrades on all your units, and tanks surrounded by 8-10 probes will die in less than 5 seconds (go ahead and calculate yourself). If parting had proxied, or sent stalkers out on the map to scout, or tried to harass, or had stalkers off to the side away from the shield battery, etc. he would have died. Literally if he did anything different whatsoever that game he would have died. So no he didn't throw the game
@taragnor4 жыл бұрын
@@whirlwind872 Yeah, honestly I thought Parting was screwed seeing what Inno had. Really if there was any problem with it. It was probably that Inno went too all in with it instead of just trying to destroy the probes Parting was attacking him with. If he gives ground and kills probes, he would have won that game. This shows terran requires the most skill to win and need to play almost perfect game throughout to win. All the noob zerg and protoss that enjoys A move army and disagree are just stupid.
@MelL-we1uo4 жыл бұрын
Lmao cry moar. Parting did a perfect flank and caught him off guard. Literally all Terran needs to do is make 10 tanks and slowly a move while sieging up. Have you ever tried to maneuver around a siege line? Keep flooding us with your Terran tears scrub
@YoshiKirishima4 жыл бұрын
@Azedenkae Echevien And as a Terran, especially one who plays mech, much of the micro is done before the fight begins. We have the luxury to "setup" before a fight, which is a lot less stressful to me than being P or Z with limited vision and having to choose wisely when to commit to an engagement. And even if there might be less total clicks than stutter stepping MMM constantly (which is not hard lol), it is much more punishing to be P and Z and mess up the engagement slightly, for example if your Charge gets wasted cus ur zealots were stuck or you accidentally cancel it, or your HT is slightly too far and your Storm is a second late or it whiffs, or if you're Zerg you run in at a terrible time and you lose 40 banelings and your army and you only killed like 10 marines. As Terran you can mess up a lot but still come out fine in a battle or make up for it in some way (unless you play mech and you got greedy/lazy and didn't siege up beforehand). Also Terran units synergize very well in how you micro and move them, but as Protoss for example you have so many different kinds of things to do with each unit. I always find it so impressive when Protoss has to fend off some early tank push with their 1 Phoenix, 1 Oracle, 2 Zealots, 2 Stalkers, 1 Immortal, and 1 Sentry. Like wtf you have to do so much shit all at once in the right order and not mess anything up. Everything moves at different speeds and heavily depends on the other things also going as planned. If anything messes up or the situation changes mid-engagement, you may need to quickly adapt and change the execution of everything else (whether to FF or use Guardian Shield, what unit to pick up and what to focus fire with Stalkers, what to target with Zealots, etc.)
