Straight to the point. Oil, part numbers, and steps. Perfect vid.

Can confirm all the same parts apply to the 2024 adventure sports model as well.

You forgot one thing to mention that the Crf 1000 is very nitpicking about measuring the oil… definitely not on the center stand and also not on the side stand.. set it straight like you would ride it and than measure it… it makes a huge difference.
@1LiterADV9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip on how to check the level. I’ll keep that in mind.
@heyspookyboogie6444 ай бұрын
That seems sketchy. The difference between a center stand or paddock stand and how you would ride it is minimal, and there’s no way they designed it to be held steady not on any stands when doing this sort of work.

Curious about the oil filter wrench are they generic or is it specific to this size for the Africa Twin because I’d like to get one

Hi man , do you know if oil 10W-30 for gasoline cars is different somehow than an oil 10W-30 for motorbike ?
@1LiterADV Жыл бұрын
Yes it is different. Only use motorcycle oil because the clutch, transmission, and engine share the same oil in these motorcycles. So car engine oil will cause issues.
@AG-wm9tp2 жыл бұрын
According to the manual, We have to be carefull not to use 'fuel save' oils. Some 10W 30 motorcycle oils have 'fuel save' feature, which is not suitable for Africa Twin, especialy DCT version.
@1LiterADV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, “fuel save” or economy improving oils tend to be bad for wet clutch engines, like our motorcycles.

Thanks for the video, on the manual for 2016 DCR the oil filter part is :15410-MFJ-D01, Is there a difference with yours? xx

I believe the 02 replaced the 01 at some point.

@@1LiterADV you are right! I did some research after I wrote the comment and the response was the same. Would you recommend the genuine oil from Honda? In Australia I use Penrite which is equivalent of Motul but even before using this oil I have noticed that sometimes the gear are hold for to long on a DCT model. Is this a regular issue on a DCT model? 🫣
@1LiterADV Жыл бұрын
I would recommend any oil that meets your motorcycle specifications listed in your owners manual.

Great video guys. Lighting was great so we could actually see what you were doing.🙌 Is that the Outback Motortek bash plate on the AT?

Thanks! We love hearing those types of comments.

The bash plate is manufactured by Bumot.

Thanks guys that was very helpful. Is it essential to torque the oil filter?

Thanks for reply. Hand tight is fine….but maybe check for at leaks and check again after 1st ride.

Very complete. If 10w30 is not available, what is the alternative engine oil?
@1LiterADV2 жыл бұрын
No alternate to my knowledge. I wouldn’t mess with that, but I’m no oil guru so I always go with what the manufacture recommends.

Great video, I watched this as I'm about to service my bike you mentioned the oil filter threads coming out of the motor a bit what happens if they do come out further than what you measured? What do I do? I've serviced lots of cars and motorcycles in my life but I've never given a thought to the thread coming out
@1LiterADV Жыл бұрын
I just mentioned that because it was in the Haynes manual. I’ve never heard anyone have an issue. You may consult your local dealer but I’m guessing if you seat treads, they would bottom out to correct depth. I think the real issue is making sure it’s not loose with the ability to unthread and leave it with the oil filter down the trail.

Is there a transmission oil? Or is the gearbox lubricated with engine oil?
@1LiterADV2 жыл бұрын
It’s all the same. However the DCT version does have an additional small filter and requires 100ml more of oil vs the manual version.
