She is an orator but what she is saying is nothing new. Actually some of the things she has mentioned in her speech are not her own. White angels and black devil, I heard that from Muhammad Ali, et al long time ago. If you study the Bible you will find out that wherever Christianity, their culture was disrupted. The change of culture and traditions was not just in Africa. The same thing happened in the Roman world. This should be required listening for every African child at home in Africa or in the diaspora. Late in the 20th century there was a movement among African peoples everywhere that witnessed an awakening. Out of that movement came the Pan-Africanism. The early leaders of the movement have passed on and since then there has been an acute shortage of worthy successors. As a consequence there has been costly setbacks. The burning issue is how to get the movement back on track. Steve Biko the revolutionary South African once said that "being black is not a matter of pigmentation, being black is a reflection of a mental attitude". The current crop of leaders lack a realisation of black consciousness and the ability to rally together around the cause of their oppression. That systemic weakness of visionary leadership underscores the present loss of direction of the liberation movements started in the late 20th century. So that although Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao considers "leadership" as an above the ground issue, i consider it worthy of being considered a below the ground or a root issue.
