I'm very interested in the pronunciation. I've noticed that lots of people, white and black people in America, delete/drop their /v/'s in "give me", so it ends up sounding like "gimme". However, when it comes to AAVE, I've also heard, if my ears serve me correctly and I don't think they do because English isn't my first language, that it's kind of thing, a tendency, for AAVE speakers to drop some consonant sounds/consonant clusters. I watched this movie the other day and one of the characters said "I love you" but it sounded like "ah lu you" (no V sound at all there). I've also heard sentences like "I love this shit" being pronounced "a lu dishit". Is any of that correct? Could you recommend me a paper on this or something?
