It's always a beautiful thing to see Africa in a positive language. I love the vibrancy in this video and the fact that you keep pushing us as viewers to be conscience about the world around us is one of the reasons I love your channel. LOL I have never looked at water the same way after you did the challenge with the Gallon of water. That plus the Flint water crisis changed my perspective 180 degrees. Thanks for being you!

I found out that part of my roots through a genetic DNA test were traced back to the Mende people of Sierra Leone and Balanta people of Guinea-Bissau! If this didn't touch you, move you or inspire you to be better, to do for others and to be aware of the products you use and how they are made then your eyes were closed. We're so blessed as a Nation. Don't throw away opportunities. I'm encouraged to do more. I'm so teary-eyed right now. Oh who am I kidding? I'm crying because we're blessed yet so we're ungrateful. Thank you Maya. This is inspiring. Please continue to follow your heart and creating your own path.

Literally in tears. Yesterday while holding my god son, I talked to my best friend about how overwhelmingly happy I was to finally make the difference that I want to see in the world. We're all about to graduate and it's crazy how far we've come, what we've done and what we can do. Our parents didn't go to college like we did and they weren't exposed to the opportunities we have been exposed to, yet they managed to educate us and afford to pay for us to be where we are. I was telling them that I can't imagine what WE can do for our kids, my god son, our future generations, and the people around us. We sat and talked about what we can do to be effective in the fields we're going into. We also talked about the change we can create with the knowledge that we'll gain and the connections we have made. Everyone in my neighborhood didn't get a chance to go to school and I am almost in a position to be able to ensure that those people in my old neighborhood get the same opportunities that I did. I watched this video and cried. What an overwhelming feeling it is to see change in such an immense way. I want to do that. I want to open schools. I want to change our poor school systems in the US. I want to figure out a way to provide healthy affordable food. Shit, I want to provide food to people who just don't have it. And the crazy thing is....all of my friends have plans like that too. I haven't been excited for graduation because I've been so busy and distracted with no time to think about it. Finally, with a moment to relax on this Friday morning, I'm so excited I'm about to graduate in April. It's only up from here.

I am so amazed at the strenuous amount of work and sweat it takes to create all of these products! I am both proud and saddened! Proud that these individuals have made a way for their lives, saddened because they should not be poor! Look at the work! The actual hand, back, courageous work. Definitely has motivated me to be conscious about where my money is being sent to after making purchases. Thank you Maya for your continued meekness and #shamelessness! You have singlehandedly , along with the other great KZbinrs, changed lives for those amazing, deserving individuals.

Thank you, Maya, for bringing this brand to my attention. My skin is rather oily, so I don't usually use a body lotion, however, I am addicted to African Black Soap and will be placing an order on the Alaffia website for some soap and hair products. +Shameless Maya If you want to raise awareness about the African continent, pleeeeease start by avoiding labeling "African this" or "African that". It doesn't make any sense!!! You wouldn't title "European beauty" or "American beauty" because that's a whole continent we are talking about! Using this reducing term is pejorative and denies the infinitive variations of beauty within the African cultures. You cannot compare Nigerian beauty codes with the Rwandan ones or the Tunisian ones! That is wrong! Bad and wrong! Similarly that Italian beauty has nothing to do with the Norwegian one or French! And you, as a "woman of color" as they like to label us, AND a youtuber, should know that better than anybody. Keep doing your good job but please use the right terms. Peace

Awesome video Maya. especially loved the morning time lapse, scenery shots, the clip of you actually using the products, showing how much fun you had, the commentary which sounded more encouraging than the guilt trip some of these sound like. We need more conscious consumers in order to influence more business to take fair trade more seriously. Great stuff, love your consistency, from house of Marley to this, shaving your hair off was also extreme but consistent! can't wait to reach that level of self awareness and focus!
