That's a great song . And even worse today than it was back then , ball of confusion indeed.

Nice! Confusion remains profitable for some. I dig that the clip was actually live and not lip-synced or overdubbed with the studio recording. The bass line stands out more in the studio recording, pumping like a heart engaged in vigorous action. When you're ready for more from The Temptations also check out their other classics including "My Girl", "The Way You Do The Things You Do", "Since I Lost My Baby", "Get Ready", "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", "I Can't Get Next To You", "(I Know) I'm Losing You", "Cloud Nine", and "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)". And for another seventies baritone ballad also check out Lou Rawls "You'll Never Find Another Love like Mine" from 1976.

I've said this before. Look at the Billboard top 100 from back then. People were making these songs hits. To have a hit, people have to buy the song. People were really buying into this kind of change. And that is what this song, and so many, were calling for was change. Change starts with us. One at a time.

Barry Gordy the head of their record label tried everything he could to keep this song from being released,( but thank God for the young staff working at Motown - including his daughter . They told the old man they would quit ASAP if this song didn't get released . Gordy was still stuck on the 60's ...."the world is full of live vibe" , but America has changed going into the 70's. Gordy also tried to stop Marvin's Gaye's classic social song "( What's Going On).

I hate this production, all the horns. Sounds terrible imo. The recording is a masterpiece.
