When a man sings in that high register, it's called Falsetto. Bobby Debarge is the lead singer on this song, and his brother Tommy is backing him up singing in Falsetto range. Later, in the 1980s, the younger siblings formed a group named Debarge that is lead by their younger brother El Debarge and on some songs James and Bunny Debarge (Bunny is the only sister that sings with the group Debarge.) El Debarge also sings in that same Falsetto range. There aren't any women in on this song or in the group Switch.
