African leaders demand reparations for the transatlantic slave trade and colonial wrongs

Calls for European countries to return artifacts taken from Africa during the colonial era and also pay reparations to the continent are intensifying. While the campaign has been ongoing for many years, it is now gaining traction as Africans in the diaspora and Caribbean countries are joining the movement.

The descendants of the slaves in the diaspora should get the reparations.. that would be backwards to pay a country for slavery instead of the descendants..Countries in the continent have a case for colonization though.

African leaders are stupid. Don't they understand the meaning of trade?is it only the white man who is guilty?What about our wicked ancestors who sold their fellow blacks for guns. Anytime the slave story is being told, we Africans display our hypocrisy as if we are innocent, when in reality we are more guilty than the whites.

Imagine punishing a student of your school today to pay an amount of money because his great-great-great-great-great grandfather was part of a group who destroyed a part of the school's infrastructure over 200 years ago. Just think about it.

Yes and think about how that wealth from them benefits them now and built the foundation of their lives and how they like their ancestors never fully admitted to their wrongs and how the descendants of the slaves continued long after slavery been kept from participating in the colonizers systems and how the leaders of all of their countries look like them, how the colonizers armies and flags are still in our countries and how the slave descendants history, and identity is still unknow....need I say more? Every nation in the world has experienced slavery. Your ignorance is amazing. 1. Millions of Europeans from the Balkans and southern Europe were enslaved by Turks, Arabs and North Africans. Women were used as sex slaves and the young men were trained to serve in their armies. The slavic and greek slaves of Egypt were known to history as the Mamluks. The Greek and slavic Christian children taken from their family every year by the Ottomans are known to history as the janissaries. These slaves protected west asia and africa from Invasion by the Mongols who slaughtered everyone in their path, 2. Slavery was a common practice through-out the world but it lasted longer in Central Africa and West Asia than everywhere else in the world. Taking slaves during war was common practice, the slaves sold to Arab and European traders were captured by central african tribes who were in a constant state of war with their neighbours. Africans and their descendants need to ask their neighbours for an apology and reparations. 3. 1.5 million europeans in the 1800s were enslaved by Tunisian pirates and these slaves were frequently sold to Arabs and central africans. 4. The Mongols captured and relocated millions of slaves from Europe and West Asia to east asia. Enslaved Russian children were relocated to Beijing China and trained to be soldiers. Should China pay their descendants and families reparations. I can go on and on with examples to show that every nation had a slaving history both as slaves and being enslaved. As far as Guyana, Britain owes the Guyanese people nothing. Britain gifted a nation worth trillions of dollars to the Guyanese people. A nation that was captured from the Spanish and Dutch. The Guyanese people owe the descendants of British soldiers who fought and died to create and protect the country of Guyana billions of dollars. Europeans gifted countries worth trillions to the descendants of these slaves. European slaves have never been paid reparations.
