😏🦁 Asiatic Lion is not a Subspecies. But, It is a Panthera Leo Leo population found in the Historical Range from Arabia, Turkey, Palestine, Mesopotamia, Iran, Caucasian Mountains and Baluchistan. Now today, these last remaining Big Cats are surviving only the Gir Forest in India's Gujarat State. Panthera leo persica is a junior synonym o Panthera leo leo.

Actually, you are incorrect, the Lion (Panthera leo) originated exclusively from Europe, therefore there are twelve recognized subspecies, the most basal lion subspecies is the †European Lion (Panthera leo fossilis), then followed by the split between two clades, the Panthera leo persica group (Asiatic Lions) that contains the †Indian Lion (Panthera leo persica) and the †Sri Lanka Lion (Panthera leo sinhaleyus) and the Panthera leo leo group (African Lions) that contains the †Egyptian Lion (Panthera leo aegyptiaca), the †Barbary Lion (Panthera leo leo), the West African Lion (Panthera leo senegalensis), the Congo Lion (Panthera leo azandica), the Nubian Lion (Panthera leo nubica), the Ethiopian Lion (Panthera leo roosevelti), the Katanga Lion (Panthera leo bleyenberghi), the Transvaal Lion (Panthera leo krugeri), and the †Cape Lion (Panthera leo melanochaita).

@user-fl6jn1wb2t, Panthera leo fossilis is the only lion subspecies in Europe and is officially called the "European Lion", the cave lion is not a lion at all, also, Panthera leo fossilis (European Lion) is the most basal of all the twelve lion subspecies, therefore the lion did originate exclusively from Europe, surprisingly, the closest relative of the lion is the extinct European Jaguar (Panthera gombaszoegensis).

I doubt these lions would want to eat anyone. They are fed and safe in their enclosures. They stay out of aggression if they can help it. Cats are lazy. They don’t do any thing if they don’t have to.
