I can not believe that clients consider they have hunted a buffalo when the PH (American PH) shoots all his clients buffalo. Then tells client what a great shot. I would not go hunting with him. That ain't hunting.

@@AfricanSafariFilms I've seen clips of Mark S goading DG to charge - very unprofessional IMHO - especially when with novice hunter clients! Frankly, he's too risky a PH, as buff can absorb a lot of lead (the late PH Ian Gibson being gored after a buff had taken 22 heavy calibre rounds!!). For this reason I consider Mark S "a gung-ho hero" and an idiot.

Agreed. Number 5: the client hit the off foreleg, and then the PH put in that 3rd shot into the neck vertebrae which dropped the buff in full flight. Btw I don't consider Mark S safe enough PH to guide novice clients - his methods being too "gung-ho". He's the PH who has faced more charges than any other - either he's naturally unlucky, or, (more likely) doing something wrong!! In comparison, my PH (with 40yrs of DG experience) has only ever had 3 risky situations in total.

Some good hunts here, and some bloody awful ones too!! But I wish clients would take time to prepare (knowledge, marksmanship and physical condition) BEFORE stepping off the aircraft in Africa. It would make their video footage more entertaining than just a record of an out of shape guy huffing and panting along!! One guy found the hunt very tough going - lucky for him the buff obliged in permitting themselves to get shot!!

Coupla things though. Once an animal is hit, even if it's not lethal, it counts as a taken animal and trophy fees are due no matter what. Second, with dangerous game, often the PH will ask if they can follow up the client's shot. This is to avoid a lengthy and often extremely dangerous tracking of a wounded and highly pissed off animal. Many PH's and clients are wounded or killed by injured but not dead game. If you tracked it and hit it, consider it yours.
@tim7052
@tim7052 2 жыл бұрын
@@gregtoth4497 I agree with what you're saying, and this arrangement should be made crystal clear and agreed to between PH and client before you climb into the truck. I make it clear to my PH only to fire IF things turn into a dangerous situation (thankfully to date none has). But I think the difference here is that Mark S just shoots regardless whether the need to do so is there or not.

@@gregtoth4497 You're right, but the feedback I've got from PHs etc - and confirmed here - is that he shoots regardless: even to the point of having his clients sign a contract to that effect. As you know, DG ammo in Africa is astronomically expensive, so if the PH can avoid using his ammo, he'd be pretty happy - but not so in Mark's case - that's why in my experience, PH's have always been very appreciative when I've given them my freshly reloaded left over ammo at the end of my hunts. 👍

I recently got my very first cape buffalo, my PH that was with me asked if i wanted a follow up shot, he was trying not to be rude because some people get offended by this but also, two months before my arrival, a hunter got killed after taking a poor shot on a buffalo. I said yes. I happened to get a clean double lung shot, then my gun jammed, at my fault i will admit, so my PH took a gut shot on him to slow him down. Ani al went down. Then PH told me to take a spinal shot to be safe . It was a aggressive bull the land owners were happy i shot and gave me a discount .

Me parece vergonzoso las acciones PH, en número 5 así como en el 7 y 10, estas dos últimas del Sr. Sulivan...no dan opción de rematar al que paga el búfalo, además de no haber peligro inminente. Y encima se felicitan.

That guide is a hell of a shot! His clients, not so much. How do they like paying the PH to shoot their game for them, I wonder?

He actually gets his client to sign a contract before the hunt stating that he may shoot their animals as he sees fit

In the USA, it is illegal for a guide to shoot an animal for a client.

Awesome video! Recently finished a hunting safari in South Africa, now I'm addicted. Been thinking about a buffalo hunt now. I have to ask, what kind of equipment do you use? How do you get such steady shots?
@AfricanSafariFilms
@AfricanSafariFilms Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, we use Panasonic 4K cameras and have custom made shoulder braces for steady shots. If you are interested in a fantastic well priced Buff hunt I can hook you up and we can film your hunt as well. Let me know if we can assist you in any way, buff hunting is the ultimate if you go with the right people

@@AfricanSafariFilms I've heard of Panasonic before, I'll have to get one. I never would've thought of shoulder braces, so cool! I will definitely keep you in mind for a buff hunt, gonna need to save up some money first. I've subscribed, so I won't forget! Thank you!

Deje en paz a los animales, deje su adicción; le gustaría que a usted estando tranquilo en su casa en su granja, llegue alguien le dispare y le niegue el derecho de seguir viviendo porque si?

What is the difference between legal hunting and poaching. Is it like De Beers being the only ones being allowed to hunt for diamonds.
