Thank you my esteemed Mpwa Fay! I think the pictures were just an amalgamation of various storms and not just from Iowa. Yeah, I was just a kid, about 20 miles north of them. They were stuck in Davenport, Iowa. Wrote the song about it. I think they caught cabin fever the very second they were told they couldn't go anywhere. Us locals of course were used to this kind of stuff. We don't tell many stories about this incident, and the real heartbreaker happened west of us when Buddy Holly, and the other guys, were killed in a plane crash due to the winter.

Strand in an Iowa is not a bad snow storm. It's a post-apocalyptic nuclear result. The numbers given in the background are radiation readings. And and that's what it's about, a strategy. Can't go outside, the radiation is too high. And that's what there's numbers in a background with that woman's voice are reading

The numerical readings in the background and wind direction are radiological readings. The alphanumeric csll signs areused by the military. When I was in the U.S.Navy we thought it was funny if unit was identified for the day as R8J. Meaninig Romeo ate Juliet. This song is nothing to do with a snow storm. It is about a U.S. military man stuck at his base likely a missile base or a Stategic Air Command base due to high radiatin levels. I feel its a post apocolyptic senario. This is my interpretation.

Love the clever use of phonetic alphabet phrases like Mayday, this is Echo Hotel and Hotel Echo, Charlie Delta. Plus, the beat spells out S.O.S. in Morse code ... --- ... ... --- ... genius touch. Underrated song
