Unfortunately “length = health” is still a very common mindset in our community in general. I’ve had to convince a lot of people to just cut their hair so they can prioritize hair health for once in their lives, but they see value in having longer hair, even if that means the hair is damaged… For me, nothing beats the feeling of brushing my hair and the brush just goes all the way through without stopping 🙏🏾😁

I just cut off 3 inches of my hair last night, lol. I live in California and it's hard getting a stylist to do hair for a decent price, AND someone who won't cancel on you at the last minute. So a long time ago, I went ahead and bought hair cutting shears so I can cut my hair by myself. I had damage like this gentleman here, however I'm waist length. My hair was filled with single strand knots, thinning (im postpartum), and split ends. I just had a baby so, my hair got SUPER neglected. @gurlwkinkscurls8146 The constant refrain I got from beauticians was that I needed a trim. I work on moisturized hair after it has dried completely. I am hoping that works for length retention.
@michelleej4 күн бұрын
@@gurlwkinkscurls8146 Have you tried using your fingers only? Or at least finger detangling before using a tool? There's also the issue of protein-moisture balance. From my understanding, if your hair is not balanced, it will break. Too much of either results in breakage. Google “wet hair assessment moisture protein balance.” Sometimes, people are using protein-heavy products without realizing it.

1st problem is people arent using and oil infused shampoo/conditioner. 2nd STOP USING PLASTIC HAIR TOOLS, and switch to wooden / bamboo brush and combs reason being is plastic creates more static and causes more breakage. 3 only deep condition (steam) your hair with oil only put enough on it to coat your strains. Once your done with that make sure you put a plastic cap over your hair after of a 15-30 steaming deep conditioning. Keep the cap on for 10 mins to cool your hair and to stop your cuticles from being open ( Dont rinse out the oil). Then proceed to part your hair in 4 equal parts and blow dry your hair on cool first but blow dry from the ROOT 1st. Then work your way down the hair shaft. After that start to blow drying your hair on medium heat. If your have butters only use a small amount and blow dry that in that your hair your hair to seal the moisture in . Style as you wish ❤.

@lashellanderson77735 күн бұрын
Steaming your hair works best to keep moisture in. I don't think your understanding what I'm saying 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️. The key to stop breakage has to do with everything I'm saying. try using Banta oil infused shampoo/conditioner and follow up with an oil. Only use enough to coat the hair strains, use a bamboo paddle brush to evenly distribute the oils. Go under the hair steamer 15-30 mins, once done place a plastic cap over head to stop the remaining steam from escaping. Leave the cap on for 10 mins ( Do not wash out the oil ) proceed to blow dry your hair on cool starting from the root to close your hair cuticle, then you work your way down the hair shaft to the ends. Then , proceed to put a small amount of hair natural hair butter in ,then go up to medium heat and finish blowing drying your hair throughout, once hair is completely dry go back to cool to close the hair shaft. Once I changeed my hair tools and followed these steps I experienced far less breakage and moisture was retained in my hair much longer which helped my hair grow much faster. But please stop using PLASTIC HAIR TOOLS and use wooden or bamboo. Your hair will thank you for it.
