You did not come close to spelling conquered correctly. Do you concur? Uh, you do know that the number of countries to "conquer" was not 52, really 54 or 48 depending on how you want to count them. You do know that country count is after colonialization and reflects post colonial Africa? So, what was the point you were trying to make and how is it relevant to the topic?

Marie Laveaux Not everyone though, that whole bottom of the barrel thing was uncalled for. And I thought other Latinos get mad getting called Mexicans (From U.S point of view) cause it’s like some Americans think every latino person is Mexican or almost as if they’re not aware of the other Latinos and it gets on their nerves, has nothing to do with Mexicans themselves. Like im sure an Asian person will get mad being called Chinese when they’re not, doesn’t mean that they have anything against Chinese people or whatever. Also I’m gonna be honest and say I’ve never heard the word Mallate be used, searched it up quickly and apparently it’s slang for a black person?

Tyara Hernandez The tools of discrimination, prejudice, ethnocentrism, and hate are used by a person to ensure his or her existence-to continue to climb up the economic ladder of life. In today’s society, like anytime in history, it’s boils down to what one needs to do to ensure one’s survival. As a PEOPLE , I sincerely believe that with self love, self preservation, most especially in maintaining the SAFETY of communities and UNITY, our survival will continue to be ENSURED, despite the facts that forms of inequalities that will continue to exist, almost every where , centuries and decades later! The most important thing is not to be anyone equal, but to continue to have a clear understanding that our survival depends on each other, as a group of people at home and abroad!

There are different degrees of mixing in Mexico and the rest of Latin America and you can see black people who do not "look" mixed in all of Latin America. In any case, why is it you do call black americans "black" if they are also mixed? It has to be a mix between black and white and not black and native american/mestizo so you don't have such issues?

Well, they are called afro-mexicans because black people are not that common in Mexico despite they came as slaves in the colonial period and all their history... but in countries as Colombia, Venezuela and in Brazil even more, black people and their cultural presence are so common that i don't see the need to call them afro-colombian, afro-brazilian or afro-venezuelan... just saying.

"The Garifuna are an indigenous people originally from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent who speak an eponymous Arawakan language." You Arawak/Taino and further apart of the indigenous peoples of Anahuac which is now called Mexico in South America. On your dad's side if he's an Afro-American then also ties you to indigenous North American tribes and you should find out more there as well.

Clearly you've never been in Mexico, nor you are a real Mexican, us Mexicans don't care about race, we don't say "I'm a black Mexican" that state of mind is from the USA, toxic, separation of races, making you think you should be proud of your color of your skin before anything else, and that includes white, black, yellow etc. It's like a competition for "americans", always looking for conflict, where there is non, that's why is a war mongering country, a place where you can buy a gun from a bending machine, the wild west were people get shot because of the color of their skin. Ridiculous. Come to Mexico, feel your roots, forget about your skin color, embrace the cultural heritage of your ancestors and thrive with it and from it. These people in the video are doing the same, it just pisses me off that they say they want "equal rights" that's such an american propaganda shit thing to say, they already have equal rights, race is not an issue in Mexico, as much as americans would like it to be.

If they want to embrace their Africans roots it's ok but don't come at me and say that we hate them cuz honestly I don't care if there is African-Mexicans, chinese-Mexicans white-Mexicans or whatever in my country we all have been called MEXICANS for a reason. This is really cool and I'm glad to see them getting the legal recognition they deserve! I'm pretty surprised to see some Mexicans in the comments saying that Mexicans don't care about skin color tho, bc me myself (a native/black/Mexican woman) have experienced discrimination from other Mexicans bc of my skin color. I look very similar to the Afro Mexicans in the video; dark being the main characteristic. I used to date a Mexican who was not (or not obviously) mixed with black and had other Mexicans tell him "she's too dark for you". They didn't even know I'm Mexican myself. Colorism is in just about all cultures including Mexican culture.
