23:48 CJ explained it really poorly. Basically The master got the #2 headband some time ago and was hiding it so that the conflict surrounding it would cease. Afro found out and spun on the master which made him have to reveal he was the #2 which put a target on his head from all those bandits who ambushed the school and killed all of Afro's friends in the process of trying to get the #2 themselves. If Afro just kept his head down at let the whole revenge thing go, none of that would have happened but Afro only cared about revenge so he got everybody killed for a chance to take the headband which is why Geno is pissed.

The most fucked part is in the manga when Afro made it to the top to face the #1, it’s revealed that he had died of old age and Afro took the band off of his remains, never having gotten closure or revenge, realizing the myth of the #1 being a god was just that, a myth.

CJ doesn't do a good job providing context for certain scenes. jinno looked up to sword master (yes that's his name) and he wanted Afro to let go of revenge and live peacefully with his new friends in the dojo. When Afro forced sword master to reveal he had the number 2 headband, a bunch of bandits saw it as an opportunity to get it. They started attacking sword master, Afro's friends tried to protect the master, they got killed, jinno got injured, Afro killed the bandits and sword master and took the number 2 headband. Basically, jinno hates Afro because he chose revenge over his friends.

It doesnt grant immortality and that was never stated. Justice said that it grants the powers of a god but that was never proven. He was most likely speaking metaphorically cuz in the manga he literally dies of old age when Afro finally finds him. The power of the headbands is just a myth to keep the cycle of killing going for some unknown reason.

Gino was mad at Afro because Afro had killed the man that took him in and raised him basically after his real dad became a pack. Afro did not care that his Master did all that he needed that headband. So it was either run that headband or run your life. The bandits pulled up and wanted smoke because ofc everyone wants the number 2 headband. So it ended up being a battle between the students which included Afro and gino their master, vs all the bandits. Once all the bandits and students died it was just Afro and the master left standing and you know the rest. Gino ends up living but is on 1% battery life after getting mixed by bandits.

@30:00 funny enough this is kinda indirectly addressed in the movie, Afro Samurai Resurrection when a character wearing the #1 headband just gets unceremoniously killed by another character that didnt even have the #2. Its just a system used to perpetuate a cycle of violence and pride in the being the "strongest" warrior around. I wish we got more information on how, when and why the headband system became a thing but we never really get anymore info about their origins. Also in the manga, the ending is different and drives this point home even further

Just watch the anime at this point, it's Wu-Tang produced and soundtracked plus this guy doesn't explain it well even knowing this is meant to be mostly jokes. A lot of your confusion comes from the fact he's not properly explaining that Afro's the bad guy in a lot of these scenes and he directly led to the fate of a lot of these characters. Dude misinterpreted Afro's girl for Jinno's sister, didn't even mention that Jinno HAD a little sister or that she died holding that teddy bear in childhood due to Afro's actions. Jinno was the guy who saved Afro and was _always_ on Afro's side until he decided to kick up dust. The master only had the headband to prevent bloodshed as the fate of anyone with a headband is to be locked in perpetual battle and ultimately perpetuate a cycle of violence harming the whole world. Afro didn't care, bloodshed happened as expected, he blew up Master's spot leading bandits to them. Afro got his whole family killed, with Afro personally killing his and everyone's father figure just for the headband, and only now-sisterless Jinno survived. Afro does that a lot, not ceasing his actions when he knows it only ever leads to more needless deaths.

Disloyal shawty wasn't his childhood friend, she was lying or at least it was only alluded. The real girl (Gino's sister) showed up in the Resurrection movie as one of the opps. She got messed up big time from seeing all her foster family get killed and knowing that Afro was to blame. Whole thing was a travesty.

I feel like Afro Samurai 2 was trying to be like Kill Bill 2. That scene where Black Mamba aka Beatrix, goes to the house of one of the peeps involved in the wedding massacre, and she kills that woman, after which her daughter comes into the room, and Beatrix tells her that if she chooses revenge and comes after her, she's gonna be waiting. But in Beatrix's defense, the woman she killed kinda deserved it, and Beatrix was even willing to stop the fight when the kid came home from school, and wanted to continue the fight later in a different location, but the other woman tried to kill her with the glicky hidden in the cereal box.
