Dick Cark was such a friend to us '60's teens. At 68 years I still get chills hearing the Troggs' "Love Is All Around". I've been watching the '70s most-insane show, "Match Game", hosted by Gene Rayburn. The 1,200 (more or less) videos on KZbin are so crisp, they look like live TV - yet the youthful contestants are now in their 70s. That REALLY plays with your head!

Hard to believe that the Troggs were the same group that made this song and the immensely popular and soul stirring "Wild Thing", which is easily one of the great songs of the sixties. By the end of the decade they were no longer relevant. But there is no denying the mark they made in pop culture.

Aww…I missed you Aaron and your Bandstand clips. This song was 60’s innocence along with my love for the Monkees too ( I am still mourning the death of Michael Nesmith and it will be three years on Monday the 21st that we lost Peter Tork). June’s dad, the great Woody Strode got props at last Sunday’s Superbowl where our Rams beat the Bengals.🙂 Did you all know that June’s dad played for the Rams and was prominent in Black football history along with Kenny Washington? Glad to see our Dancer Don do his an dips there.. I had fun watching the gang every Saturday when I was 8 getting my little snacks in South Central LA watching those who are now seniors and retired, I am heading down that road too🙂 Thanks Aaron for that escape when we can go back in time instead of seeing all the bad in the world. ❤️

I ALWAYS LOVE Seeing Judy Strode and Dancer Don. I was 9 then so Soon to be 63 ('59), it's nice to know that Judy Strode is 72 ('50) and Don 71('51)respectfully. I did the quick math. We're ALL still kids born in the'50's and grew up in the 60's. I Learned Alot from watching y'all, course I have an older Sister 67 now ('54) who definitely helped out with the EVERY Saturday American Bandstand must see on ABC. A few months ago I loaded my Jeep Renegade with Hubig's pies, hit I-59 and headed back home to Easton, PA after 20 years in New Orleans. I've made about 867 pots of chicken 'n' andouille gumbo since Thanksgiving...my family can't get enough of it! I'm going to miss the Crescent City and all the friends I left behind, but I've got two decades of being away from my four brothers, aka "The Knuckleheads", to make up for, not to mention Mom and Dad, who are as energetic at 83 as they were decades ago. Yeah, the Lehigh Valley is kind of a dump, but there's no place like home...

@@dancerdon9175 Heyyy Don! Things are insane as usual around here. I got roped into taking Dad for his eye appointment tomorrow because Mom's going into Manhattan with her gal-pals. I'm always getting roped into something. Since I was little, my role in the family was "Mom and Dad's little helper." I've given up on house-hunting. Typical of rustbelt towns, all the charming old houses either need extensive renovation or they've been rehab'd and overpriced due to the influx of New Yorkers. Though prices here look like a bargain compared to what _you're_ used to. And I hate all those cookie-cutter modern condos that sprang up around here. My divorced brother Tim and I are toying with the idea of buying a house together. He has a huge crib in Forks township, a few minutes from here and he can make a killing if he sells it now. I really don't want live alone and I'd rather live with family or friends than some roommate. Living with Dewey and Veronica is entertaining, but I need privacy. And they won't let me pay for ANYTHING. While I enjoy the privilege, I'm tired of getting ribbed for having Mom make me breakfast every morning and doing my laundry. We're doing the usual family thang for the 4th. Sun, steaks, and everyone betting whether Dad, me or Brady will be the first to pass out. It'll be Brady. He's weak. During the Spotlight Dance, were you able to talk to your partner and maybe give brief instructions like “when I squeeze your hand, I’m going to dip you” (or something like that) or did you just lead and your partner knew how to respond? What you’re doing here seems rather intricate and I’d think you needed to communicate in some way. Maybe not. Also, how loud was the music in the studio during the spotlight? If you needed to tell your partner something, could she hear you?

I was in high school on Long Island in '68 and happily recall slow dancin' to this song at basement parties. I had this 45 and I always played it. There was another side to the late 60s and this song is representative of that. It wasn't all about hippies and protesting.

I agree!! The music of the sixties was so great nothing like the music of today. You could understand every word of every song. I wish I had been old enough to really experience this era of music, but I was only 8 years old during that time. The teenagers of that era were really lucky.

Another reason I love this channel is hearing songs I have forgotten or do not recall at all. This has happened with more than a few songs and I just keep coming back here over and over agian. It is such a treat to have " new" music to listen to of the style and period I love. For example " Love Or Let Me Be Lonley" by Friends of Distinction I had not heard in fifty years until this channel. That one teally takes me back to time as a thirteen year old and also the song, production etc are just great. And now this song by the Troggs I do not remember....but now I have a new song to listen to!!

I know that it wasn’t from the 1960’s but are you thinking of the NBC show The Midnight Special? It ran from 1973 to 1981 & had Wolfman Jack as the host. It was also known for having some of the biggest acts of the era on.

The Troggs were a two hit wonder group. It is mind boggling to me how so many of these 60s groups like the Troggs could produce so many incredibly crappy songs yet come up with one or two great hits. It has to be because these people were of very low intelligence and made only one or two good songs by pure random chance.
