I'm Italian, I was 6 in 1971 and I remember very few things. One is the match of the soccer world cup Italy - Brazil, played the previous year, with Pele on the pitch. Another is this fantastic performance. You must know that, in those years, the audience on TV could not move, they could not get up, they could only applaud on command. Then came James Brown.

Paula´s Universe, agree to that. The dancer is Elza Soares, a Brazilian superstar, icon, singer and songwriter "Queen of Samba". So she was not a go go dancer at all. In this video she is 40 yo and a mother of four... Google her and there is a lot about her life and what happened to her. She was awarded "Singer of the Millenium" by BBC. For many yeras she was married to fotboll star Garrincha and they lived in Rome 1970 to 1971 something. So that i maybee an explaination why she is on this TV show. That was indeed very unexpected and a big surprise. She was globally a bigger star than JB himself, but funny thing is that I guess not many people in that TV show, or seeing this video, has any idea about that. Kindá sad really

@@stennordenmalm1735 Thank you for the history and information on this lady. 🌟🌸
James Brown and his band associates had the talent, spirit, energy, soul like nobody else could perform on stage. I am so fortunate that I was raised up listening to his music and all that he gave to this world as an amazing artist.

This man sung, danced, went a played the piano riff which was heavily sampled including the movie nothing but trouble. He composed the music and created an exclusive sound. He was a genius

I am convinced that funk was born when Bootsy laid into that opening bassline for Soul Power and Catfish, followed with those tight as hell guitar chords .. I can listen to that 20 secs of music forever. JB and BB were badasses.
