We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

Wear PFD and clip on safety line when swell increases and when you go on deck. Practice makes perfect. Great job of lifting the sails and taking off avoiding objects. Congratulation young ones!!! You make sacrifices for the dream you share. Bye til later.

A big congratulations from me, having subscribed the very day you were introduced to the world by Odd Live Crafting almost exactly four years ago. You have persevered in the most challenging and difficult conditions and now it has all payed off. Although I have been impressed with you both, I have to say that the skilled shipwrights in the yard that rebuilt Yaba were the most amazing group of shipwrights I have ever seen. What a great bunch of fellows they are, they did their best to bring your new vision of Yaba to light. The quality of wood you were able to source locally in Brazil has to be the envy of many shipwrights across the world. Truly amazing quality and beautiful wood now adorns Yaba, and will last a lifetime. Being a PADI diver since 1980, and have lived in Asia, and the Caribbean, I so look forward to your diving adventures as well. I also think with diving in mind, your next ships inflatable should be thought out carefully, and be able to support your future endeavors which I believe may include diving instruction and onboard adventures. Fortunately MP did a splendid job (with experienced pro guidance) to rebuild the real powerhouse of Yaba - the engine. Bcs she's NOT a particularly fast sailboat (more like a barge with sails). Hopefully you will improve/upgrade her rig and sails.
