We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

Gotta say, guys, been here since near Day 1 and to see Yaba finally get "her feet wet" is a profound joy. I've worked on refits of 2 'glass boats ( a 32' and 41') but seeing Yaba go from what she was, a tragedy, to what she is now, a beauty reborn, has been one of the most impressive undertakings I've ever seen. The task, monumental. The effort, overwhelming and impressive. The results, absolutely spectacular! Congratulations! I've only been watching your channel for around a year, maybe a couple months more than that. Watching the epic and talented work of you both and all those shipwrights and mechanics who led and assisted you along the way has been a true pleasure! Also, what a great boatyard you found to do all this! So much talent, so much passion from all of the crew, there, who genuinely poured their best into all they did to get this done-- I was so happy to see you honor a particular man with an award (he was/is a gem among artisans). But, really, the entire crew at that boatyard deserve awards, too. An awesome bunch! And Yaba is now wet! What a milestone! By the time you read this, you will have found some hull leaks (normal) and probably watched them cease as the hull planks swell (also normal-- unless they get worse. I hope that's not the case!). After you're done with all the remaining tasks prior to embarking on journeys sailing where you will, I'll go back to the beginning on your channel to see all I missed before I found you guys. But, what a thrill to see Yaba floating! Love you guys!

Still remember the vids of YABA trying not to sink on it's way to the shipyard. Been a long up and down journey to back in the water. I'll keep watching as you both continue your journey with a restored YABA.
