Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the works needed were a lot more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

How interesting it would be if you you could have just a 5 minute interview with a different builder/shipwright after each episode! It'll be amazing to hear their views about their job, the boat, etc. You could use subtitles. It'll be like a way to honour their hard work and dedication, I think. 😉😁

Watching the older gentleman cut the angle and chisel the angles is amazing ,his skills are amazing and what he's learned is a dying art. This is the most interesting video of all the wood boat builds and refits I've seen. Truly amazing watching these craftsmen work.

The thin, older craftsman must be the top expert, from watching your journey, they all are experts but this craftsman is just a "wow" for me to watch. I'm 58 and hope I have half his energy when older. Your Craftsman are superb and it shows in the beauty of your boat. Thank you for sharing it all.

It never ceases to amaze me how tough that wood is. They are beating on planks with heavy hammers and there are NO dents in the wood! Those are hard deck planks.

Onestly its a beutifull ship allredy. And after all done and all paint is in place she will be the pearl of the sea. I love to see her grow back from the wrack she was from the beginning. Its a huge transformation you all done. Cant whait to see her the day when she sail away to destination onknown with you both. She will be a lovley home fore you two in the future. Your story telling through video improves episode by episode. The skill of your craftsmen still amazes me. They are the best. You don't need a plank - because - no one will want to leave such a beautiful boat. Any chance of seeing more of the boat that appeared in the last few minutes. It looked very interesting.

When you're 'done' with the boat (understanding that one is never completely done with any boat', you should make a photo board with all of your boatwrights and their names and specialties and secure it in a very prominent place as a permanent tribute to their skills, companionship, and as a constant reminder of the thanks you (and us) all owe them. They are the salt of the earth!

I agree. The shipwrights are fascinating. You should do some episodes about them. How old are they? How long have they been doing this work? Where did they learn their skills? Is it a family owned company? How by old is company? How many wood boats do they repair/build?what do they think about project? Biggest challenge?

Nice 1 m8, yeh, I did enjoy this episode. One of the highlights was B.D. climbing a ladder. I was also surprised there was another boat, different to the other that was there.
