After 6 Months of Shaping Surfboards

Here are a few tips with the planer that I've learned that have made big difference in my shaping. A lot of them seem like common sense, but you only know what you know - right?

Did you shape chines the entire length of the bottom rails? Interesting to hear the reason why.

Not quite all the way but pretty close. They still have a hard edge the last 16” or so on the chines. I just figure it’s just an exaggerated version of a “V” out the back. What are your thoughts on it?

@paulzeye_surfboards Honestly, I've just heard about the method. Which to my limited knowledge was used on the nose for long boards. It's hard to say how it would perform. Loose on the face, or become tighter as though you've created an exaggerated pinched rail. Likely the latter. Hey, man. I've seen some wild ideas from well know shapers. Some still do some wild stuff today. It'll be interesting to here the feed back.

@@burnout9069 I really like to do it on wider boards, fish and logs etc. it moves the pivot point in toward the stringer and helps them roll side to side with less effort.
