Hey Kyle beautiful Bowie, the lapis is stunning. Hey I’m a knife maker from Canada and a lapidary artist. In my Experience working with many different Gemstones the soft backed diamond nova wheels work amazing for achieving a high gloss polish. The wheels can run up to 14,000 grit and then a light buff with cerium oxide on a leather pad works amazing. Oh the Damascus on that blade is fantastic 😮

Amazing work! As a cabinet maker I notice a destinct difference with the use of materials between European and US work. In Europe materials have not been so abundant so the finished product reflects the preciousness of the materials. In the US money seems to be no object so you see lavish use of materials... Where I would use expensive veneers on a cheaper material, in the US they'd use solid wood, sparing no expense. Incredible journey and what a great result..

In general for polishing gemstones and semi gemstones, jewellers also often use Aluminum Oxide powder too. (just mix the powder with water untill it's a paste) Also very important to all watching and new at the process of stone cutting. a lot of mineral stones like lapis, or jade or anything like it, a lot of prescious stones belong to the Asbesthos family, so always wear protections around your face most of all, but also wear gloves to prevent cross contamination, and always cut with plentiful water to avoid heat buildup, but also to prevent the dust from flying all over the workplace because it is a nasty kind of dust :)

This is literally the most beautiful Bowie knife I have ever set eyes on. I always say that I will use any knife I'm able to buy, and people I know think I'm nuts buying $1k+ Shirogorovs and Custom Knife Factory knives (a few names as an example) to actually use. I've told them many times that the money I spend on knives is nothing compared to what can be spent on 100% hand made customs such as this. None of them believe me when I tell them I can show them knives that cost $50K or more. I can say that if I was able to afford a knife of this caliber I would not be using it for anything. Hell, I'd probably be scared to even showcase it in my own home. Lol. Every knife I've watched you make pretty much leaves me in awe. Your work is truly amazing and I'm always looking forward to see your next piece.

As I was watching I was thinking about if a blade like this was in a movie, it would have to be central to the plot somehow, imbued with magic and the prized possession of the king.
