I am discussing the increased awareness of diversity in the field of speech-language pathology, particularly among African American individuals. The ASHA conference in the mid-eighties emphasized the importance of accommodating different populations. The focus is on recognizing individual differences and providing appropriate accommodations, with ASHA evolving over the years to better serve diverse populations.
