I did a long, 4000 mile cross-country trip last summer. Cruised at 80 or more (90 in Montana), and the car felt planted at those speeds. I wasn't being a mileage jockey at all, and averaged 31.7 for the whole trip. It's a hoot to drive, fast or slow. There's nothing like it at the price point. I'll keep it for years.

I own a ‘16 FiST factory ordered and want to chime in on a few things : - Recaro seats are a must. In Canada they are standard from factory. Allow them to break in and they’ll be crazy comfy + they’re heated ! - Ford put a very conservative tune from factory with : No boost in 1st gear; limited boost in 2nd gear + 87 octane compatible tune. With a Cobb AP and a tune you can release the full potential and get smthn close to 300 lb/ft of torque from stock turbo in all gears ! You’ll only struggle with FWD grip and start looking for bigger tires to put all that power torque down! - Ford equipped the ST with the same rear motor mount as the regular Fiesta so one needs to throw that into garbage and instal an upgraded mount (Cobb for example) so the motor doesn’t hit heatshield and no lost power / jerky shifts. - Stock exhaust is meh. A SS exhaust with or without upgraded downpipe makes an amazing difference. Mine sounds awesome with a Stratified pops and crackles tune + Cobb SS catback - People like to talk sh*t abt the FiST and their owners. Fact is I still love the car after 2 years of ownership despite owning another car and a sportbike. In the future the only cars I am considering as an upgrade are ones in the new Corvette category and price point.

I have had 2 Fiesta ST. One 2016 with Recaros, and paid $22,500. Traded in for 2019 without Recaros, and paid $20,500 for it. I put 42,000 miles on my 2016, and have 17k miles on my 2019. I am 58 years old, and have owned 57 cars. I travel for work, and rent cars a lot. I have driven or owned a WRX, Ford Focus ST, Ford Focus RS, a 5.0 mustang, a 911 Turbo, a regular 911, 2015 Chevy Corvette, Chevy SS, Camaro SS. The Fiesta ST is more fun to me than all of them. Why? Feels fast, Handles incredibly well for a short high seated hatch, and most importantly for me - police don't really notice the car. It's a very inexpensive street legal go kart.
@svend.73243 жыл бұрын
Exactly my point of view. I'm 55 & had a bunch of sporty cars - but at the end of the day: got me a FiST about three years ago & when it comes to fun, there are very few & even more expensive sportscars, on the same high level of sheer driving pleasure. Because of what? Feels fast (although to be fair, it really isn't - comparing to real sportscars), handles nimble & has a direct steering feel (although electric, without a mechanic diff). Dampers & suspension are nearly perfect trimmed & balancend (for stock). And all the parts are in a harmonic balance for a rough ride. I live in germany & what's best about is not the autobahn drive (still the car catches up 95% of all the others there). No, it is the ride on small & curvy roads over hills. Cart feeling with torque enough to put the pedal down just before the apex...& ...smile!

I have been in other brands subcompact models and felt like I was riding on the road. The Fiesta is extremely Comfortable for me to drive and gets much better gas mileage. That being said my dad finds it a little small for shifting as his feet are big, but being a passenger in the front seat is comfortable. I basically only have dogs and small people ride in the back seat. It is amazing what you can fit in the Fiesta especially if you put the back seats down. I brought a desk home in it I got from a friend, I have brought bags of fuel home for the stove, mulch for the yard I even have brought trees home I just put them out the top of the sunroof. This is my first TFL review and it's hard to watch, very disjointed and clunky, rough presentation and very dismissive of the car. The Fiesta ST has it's issues but trashing a car's tire wear because you spent all your time at the track or saying the interior is plasticy when it costs under $20k is just taking cheap shots. No comment was made about the stellar handling or the amazing braking, frankly if you aren't driving a Fiesta ST for the handling you're missing the entire point of the car. Just purchased a 2019 ST. First, my first car was a 1970 VW Beetle that was capable of a 14.3 second 0-60 time. Note, that was smoking fast for a Beetle back in 1971. So, my new ST is definitely faster than a Beetle. Also was surprised that the Ford Dealer was unwilling to swap out the 205R40-17 tires and rims for the 16 inch set for the ST-Line Fiesta (a Fiesta SE in ST badging). Because I knew from the get go that those rickey racer wheels would produce a horrible ride and be incredibly vulnerable to Michigan roads. As a result within a week I had a set of 16x7 wheels and some good all season Firestone's on the Fiesta. That change made for a HUGE difference in the ride quality and IMO had zero detrimental effects on the handling. Another plus is that the taller profile provides for a decent level of resistance to potholes. BTW, if you want to see real world evidence of the stupidity of today's super low profile tire fad all you have to do is look at any of the 3 major Racing venues. NASCAR, Indycar, and Formula One all use tires with a 50 or higher profile tire. Because when you crack a rim at 200 + mph the result will be a spectacular wreck that kills drivers and spectators without discrimination. Some acts just shouldn't be done without prefacing the act with "hold my beer and watch this" and putting 40 or 30 profile tires on an automobile is one of those acts. Shame on Ford for putting 205R40-17 wheels and tires on a car that will see duty on regular roadways. Finally I have to address that "real world" 0-60 run with an excess load of baggage of about 400 lbsl. It's a 197 HP engine and an extra 400 lbs. will have a significant impact on the 0-60 time. There is also the matter of the granny shifting being used. Finally I have to ask WHAT OCTANE FUEL were they using. Based on my Butt Sensor for G forces I would guess that using 89 octane gas reduces the engine output for 197 HP to something around 150-165 HP. On the plus side that reduced power does make it much easier to this old RWD geezer to get used to Torque Steer.
@dvdguire5 жыл бұрын
I only use super premium (91-97 octane depending on the time of year) with the NOS brand octane booster, the thing dynos 205hp and 210ftlbs torque. With an additional 350lbs of passengers in it with myself it most certainly goes from a 6.7s 0-60 to about 8.7s... but then again my normal passenger is scared of interstate speeds

I am going to miss this car. You said it wasn’t fast in a straight line but at that small imi track it was very hard to beat. I hope you get new 2019 raptor with the updated suspension as replacement, and you tune it.

These guys discuss the Fiesta ST's interior noise level. They totally miss that fact that the FiST has a "Symposer", a plastic hose that connects to the intake manifold on one end and the dashboard on the other end. It literally pipes sound from the engine into the interior to make occupants think they're in a more powerful car. That's the "genius" you get when you hire MBAs into your design department. The first mod I did to my 2016 FiST was install a symposer delete kit.

@@01gtbdaily30 Agreed. I owned a Fiesta ST for 2 years. I loved it. I test drove the Veloster before I got the ST and it felt like a matchbox car. I didn't like it at all. The ST in my opinion beats out the Veloster in every category.

They’re both bigger and heavier than the Fiesta, so they’re not direct competitors.

You must be in sales managing a territory like me. I just got mine two months ago and have 9700+ miles on it, however I love driving it so much I drove on the weekends as well. I just can't stop driving it, it's just so good! Im making up for all the lost time and years driving Honda Fits and CR-Zs, I've wasted time and money on those dumb Hondas!!! Goodbye Honda. I finally got a manual with the FiST. It definitely has been taking me a while to get good at it, but hopefully no damage done, stalled some times and hard shifts, letting the clutch release too quickly many times, mostly 1st to 2nd has been taking me the whole time to get smoothly. There have certainly been plenty of frustrations along the way but I definitely love the connection and involvement and control in driving manual, like I said hope not doing any damage and doing everything the right way as I've been teaching myself since day one.

2019 It has no oh shit handles and has no hanger hooks. Be wary of the transmission sometimes it sticks. When you push the start button sometimes it doesn't start for 10 seconds or so. Only the driver's window has express up-and-down. The other 3 windows hold to open and close. Sunroof only has express open not close. Engine makes non rpm noise. Finger controls such as blinkers and wipers could be more ergonomic designed. 1/2 moon storage below A/C useless anything will fall out. Hard to see traffic out right rear window corner even with rear headrests collapsed. ST should be fully loaded. Mine came without heated seats. However, seats are durable cloth unlike cold leather needing heat. Having said all that I dig the car white on black. I have a full size spare.
@dvdguire5 жыл бұрын
My 19 doesn't have the "10s no start" problem or the sticking transmission... but then again mine is spec'd almost identical to the 17 in this video. I don't have the black rims or painted brakes but i do have the factory 4 way recaro bucket seats *not the fancy race car version that's in fixed position* rear window visibility is fine as long as i drop my seat to the floor but the fact that i can only see out the bottom of the window means i have to be getting tailgated to have a car behind me blinding me

Dam... i payed too much . Im glad for all of you who got sweet deals ! My car at 40k mikes is great. But anytime i hop into another car i realize how uncomfortable it is, but i forget about it once im enjoying how it drives. But ya, without ideal roads at the wrong speeds will exhaust you. Now in mine the other annoyance is that it seems like every plastic and interior part crackles and creeks and makes my old 02 prizm sound and feel like a brand new high end luxury car... plus the heater wont blow hot till its been driven a 10 miles wich sucks when you live in cold country and work is 3 miles away... I know i could enjoy the wonderful qualities of this car more than i do, i baby the thing because I want it to last should i keep it around for a long time. But i do find myself thinking I'd rather have something more comfortable for my daily driver or finding ways to make the ride smother via different tires and rim selection..

Wow... you can't do a 0-60 with 3 large adults in the car (thank you Tommy for mentioning that). I thought nobody was going to address that at first. Besides everybody knows the Fiesta ST is more about handling than straight line performance. How long did you guys end up having the car?

Is the Chevrolet Sonic RS in the same class?
@bongodave136 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. It's the zippy turbo version of the Sonic, but it only makes about 140 hp. Same idea, but the ST smokes it.
@77GR19826 жыл бұрын
The SONIC RS belongs to the COMPACT category whereas the Fiesta ST is in the SUB-COMPACT. The SPARK would be its direct competition.

you must really be driving it hard. I just replaced the original tires on my 2012 Fiat 500 at 50,000 miles. And could have gone longer.
@dvdguire5 жыл бұрын
But your fiat 500 only packs 68 hp and 110 ftlbs torque on a body that weighs 1800lbs. The fiesta packs right at 200hp 210 ftlbs torque on a body that weighs 2200-2700lbs depending on configuration while leaving "sporty" cars like the vw golf gti standing on the circuit
