It seems intuitive that ending someone's life prematurely would save you money (years of food, housing, etc.), but the legal costs are actually much more substantial because we need to make sure we get it right when we sentence someone to death. Can seem unjust, especially in horrifying cases like this one, but the death penalty actually hurts society in the aggregate.

​@@jannabailey6800one of my exs is a former prison inmate. Just got out this year. she was convicted of a "drug induced death" charge about 4 years ago. Its sort of like a minor manslaughter charge. She sold drugs to somone who later ODed. She informed me that this woman will probably spend the entirety of her incarceration in a medcial wing, barely if at all interacting with the general population. They dont stick people they see as mentally ill in with general Pop for obvious reasons. My ex had mild mental illness compared to this Person and was almost exclusivly in the medical wing, so no doubt lori is gonna be in one as well. this isnt the 80's anymore, they have cameras everywhere in prisons, prisoners have more laws and rights protecting their safety and psych doctors that give them therapy. Bad things still happen (and more in male prisons) but its not as brutal as it was back then or what TV shows may make you think. I used to think that too till i interacted with more of the formally incarcerated and heard more 1st hand accounts.

And then she’s wearing red lipstick with her prison uniform, because looking good to the public is more important! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Sad that to this day, she still shows no remorse, no sadness and not even a tiny sign of caring that she killed her children.
