When I visited the Colosseum , I learned it was a place of more violence than I thought because both exotic animals and people were killed there. Apparently, war games and showing superiority over either animals or people opponents were popular.
@sergpie2 жыл бұрын
No animal was safe from anyone 2000+ years ago. However, gladiatorial games were a lot less bloody and fatal than Hollywood leads one to believe. It’d only be on rare occasions that actual people were pitted to their deaths on the arena.

War games and showing supporiority is still popular... Yes everything is getting a lot safer, but people are still watching that.

They killed so many animal's in this place, we are lucky to have any left. My mouth fell open when I heard hippos were also once kept below the stage. I didn't know hippos were included . 😔😡

They killed a lot more dude… even before the Flavian amphitheater (colosseum) whenever someone of high status died it was customary to have gory gladiatorial combat in which were based off of no mercy rules. Meaning that it was to the death no if ands or buts. The bloodshed was meant to be as a purification rite in a way actually.

I don't know why not rebuild whole how it really was.. And in my country there is so many old fortress like 1000 years old and some even from Roman times but just left to decay.. Why not rebuild them how they really look like.. I want to see that not ruins.. But they say then it would be old anymore..

Christians were slaughtered for sport and you are celebrating the prime venue? Whatever This life is much shorter than the next. 🙏🔑✌️

There is no evidence of any Christians being killed at the Colosseum - the the Catholic Church's historians had to acknowledge this in recent years.
