I have a couple of Canon R6 MK II's, with the Canon battery grip and I use Canon LP-E6NH batteries exclusively in the grip. (Two of them.) Anyways, I typically shoot anywhere from 850 to 1500 photos at an event, (depending on the size of the event and my time there) and I've yet had to change batteries. A few weekends ago, I shot an event at a club where everything was black, walls, ceiling, floor, etc. I used flash the entire time. I put a little over 1150 images on my computer when I got back to the studio. I had deleted approximately 50 images prior to ever leaving the event. So, in actuality, I shot around 1200 images. I had used 1/2 of my battery power. And so far at all the events I've shot I've never had to change batteries. Knock on wood. If you're using aftermarket batteries that's your problem with battery power. Granted the mirrorless do go through more batteries than the DSLR's did, but it sounds like your batteries are just not up to snuff. Even though Canon batteries are more expensive, $79.00 than lots of aftermarket batteries, I think they're worth it.

That's amazing with your batteries. I use Canon along with Llano and some Neewer batteries. They hold up pretty well. I have about 12 on full charge at every wedding I get to. One thing I didn't mention is I don't just change my batteries when they die or hit zero. I usually start switching them out around 30-40% power remaining. I like to have full power in the camera as much as possible. So that probably accounts for my changing batteries so often. An important point I left out! usually when I go to download cards I'll switch out batteries at that time, plus keep a few in my pocket! The Canon batteries are the best no doubt. I do like the Neewer brand for the price and The Llano batteries I get with the charger. I did my last official wedding a few weeks ago, so I have finally retired from wedding photography! I am not unhappy about that. We will still do a few small weddings for friends, but the days of the 10-12 hour weddings are over for me! It was an amazing 41 year run we had with weddings, but time to call it a day on those. I'm not 24 anymore, lol..Thanks again, I always enjoy your input on the channel and I have a high respect for your knowledge of photography. You really add to the channel and I very much appreciate that!

@@danielmartinphotography Thank you for your kind words. I stopped shooting weddings about 10 years ago, and don't miss it. I liked them but the number of hours and work was getting to be too much--I'm not a kid anymore. Like you I still do an occasional small friend's wedding, but nothing large or extravagant. One final thing on batteries. I have a few DSLR's, and a few (not many) of the older Canon batteries. I noticed right away that if I stick the newest version of Canons batteries in a DSLR and an old version of Canon's batteries in a DSLR and not touch them for a couple of months, when I do look at the battery power remaining the old version batteries have lost very little of their energy, maybe 5%. Whereas the brand-new versions have lost about 30-45% of their energy. I told this to a Canon rep at a camera store, when they were holding an event, near me, I told her that I'm not sure if it's the mirrorless cameras that eat up batteries or the batteries just aren't as good as the old ones were. She had no clue. Me, I'm kind of suspicious. This happens all the time. I've actually, on purpose, put new LP-E6NH batteries in a 5D MK II and after a month and a half look at the power drain. Then I'll put fresh old ones in and do the same thing. Major difference in power drain. The older ones simply outlast the newer ones. Have you or anyone you know noticed this? By the way, you have a good channel, and I like seeing a real photographer who does real work on youtube. Keep it up.

@@guyphoto9437 I have had that same experience with the batteries draining. I have a LLano charger that will tell the exact % remaining so I check them often. Thanks I keep trying to improve the channel slowly but surely. We are growing pretty fast so I am very happy about that! Glad you're apart of the channel!

How many pictures would you shoot for an ''average'' wedding if there is such a thing? The price of some of these new latest greatest beast cameras says someone really needs to have something and know what it is.........The R6/R6MK2 are way top of the line for anything I can even think I might ever need for photography (not a pro)...Videography wise my needs are very simple.........

Well there really is no Average, but I'd say usually about 800-900 pictures. Back in the film days it was 150-200 and then no more film..lol..
