I got me a pair of the X-15s. I understand the critique that they are clinical. The top and mids are very clear, and bassheads will be disappointed as they aren't boomy. Having said that, I run them from a Fiio X5 mkII in FLAC format, and with a tweak of the EQ they sound really good! I've been listening to a load of my tracks and honestly, with some of them, it's like I'm hearing them for the first time again! They make my ears tingle.

Thanks to your recommendation, I got a Samson sr850s a couple years ago and I love them. I also found some AKG 240m in a Thrift store that are even more gorgeous and now that I have a real job, I think I'll spoil myself by getting a pair of these. keep the good content flowing! I was a patreon for a long time, until my card expired and I didn't have a job for a few months. But I'm glad you're on floatplane and doing so well

yknow i think i dont really care about like the most optimal sound quality but i still love watching videos like this, but it's just funny watching these right after getting a new pair of headphones myself. I'm sitting here overjoyed by the Xbox branded wireless headphones and the fact i can connect the audio to my xbox and my laptop simultaneously which is a feature ive used very much and is so convenient i love it. Audio sounds good enough to me 🙏
@ty210006 ай бұрын
Quite honestly I've fallen out of favor with wanting the utmost sound quality. I care more about tuning now. I've had headphones where the sound quality and soundstage is awesome, but they literally lacked bass altogether and the high frequencies were piercing where no amount of EQ'ing would fix it, making them unlistenable for music for me, which is most of all that I do with headphones. (I'm also very sensitive to high frequencies and I like a more bassy sound profile).

I got Austian Audio Hi-x15 headphones bc of you. Definitely the best headphones ive ever owned in my life, In terms of build and sound, and its not even close. And theyre the cheaper ones!!

Austrian Audio definitely had a bad start with some pretty weird tuning, to the point that ones like the X55 became a meme for how badly they were tuned, but their latest stuff seems to be doing well now.

Yeah I got the hi-x55s and while the fit was great and the clarity was stellar.... what the heck was that sound signature???? Mine broke very quickly as well, though I don't think that's common.
@alvarodelorenzi11316 ай бұрын
I decided to give Austrian Audio a try just to support an european brand, I had to send them twice for repairs though. Their service was quick and good but I wondered if that would have happened if I had gone for Audio Technica. I think I got used to the sound but at the beginning it felt weird.

I still use AKG Y50 for Music Production/Gaming and I also have the Bluetooth model too for on the go. They are decent without EQ leaning on the warmer side, but really shine using an EQ preset I found on reddit. I got them used for like £20 each so for dirt cheap they are great!

a youtube premium view apparently contributes a crazy amount more to the creators you watch than a single view on a free account. I think I head that a portion of the youtube premium monthly payment goes to the creators you watch, which seems small but is like an order of magnitudes more than the fraction of a penny adsense pays out per view

don't, if you want to actually get into music production expensive gear isn't necessary, a far better bang for your buck would be the Sony MDR-7506, they're about $100 retail and you'll find them in nearly every studio you go into

These made my Sennheiser HD 650's seem like Beats by Dre. Then again, you did say they are more for work, not for enjoying a finished product. I don't really understand that, but I'll take your word for it. Also I've fucked my hearing up a little so the highs some times hurt my ears. May be because of the quality of music files I listen to, maybe not. I used to buy CD's and rip them to .FLAC, but I haven't done that in years and all the files I've ripped are gone.

Hi DankPods, did you ever try the AKG K361? In my opinion the last great headphones under the "original AKG" brand. Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks for the great content and happy new year!
@ismaeltorres32196 ай бұрын
Those were made after the Austrian shutdown. Still pretty good, but more Harman than ever. Unpopular opinion, I don't think Harman's issue is their sound quality. I have several AKGs post shutdown and they match what I loved about my Austrian models. I believe the quality control and underutilization of both the brand name and the engineering they have left are the biggest reasons for its downfall.
@PhoticSneezeOne6 ай бұрын
@@ismaeltorres3219 Yes, that´s why i wrote "original AKG" brand with quotation marks. Also unpopular opinion: I can´t understand why people adore the AKG K240´s They sound hollow like you would put 2 seashells on your ears and they lack bass and subbass. Unacceptable.
@ismaeltorres32196 ай бұрын
@@PhoticSneezeOne but the quotes don't make sense when the k361s aren't original AKG. But some K240s are nice. I like the Sextetts, monitors and DF with proper sealing pads. But the studios sound like seashells, the drivers are a terrible imitation of the old drivers.

Saying your headphones can do 5hz is like saying your screen shows ultraviolet content, it's useless, you can't even hear it, and even if you did that would be bad since the music wasn't made accounting to frequencies this low

Requirements needs to be comfortable on head and for warm country's so metal is no good at the top as it gets too hot heating my scalp. Also ive got small ish ears and found with the artic steelseries pro would tend to make them sore so anything that wouldn't make that happen be great

Honestly, I bought the Hi-x55s and was not impressed... The clarity was great and they were good headphones, albeit with a very unusual sound signature imo, but they broke within a year or two of purchasing them! Multiple hundred dollars and the plastic clip that let you adjust the size just BROKE completely, as well as the headphone pads disintegrating faster than most headphones i've used... I don't know how I managed to break them so fast, since I didn't put them through anything crazy :/ What Austrian Audios are you using, since you specified you're still using them in 2024? I'd have to reckon not the x55s, surely? their sound is a bit whack, unless you adjusted them

For those wondering these are some of the most heavily colored headphones you can buy. Not reference at all and the whole FR is an absolute mess. The "former AKG engineers" that went over to Austrian audio were not the one's who know how frequency response works lol. People genuinely make fun of these for saying the frequency response must've been inspired by the mountain ranges in Austria. The one thing going for them though is they're definitely very ergo.
