After YEARS of looking, I found a 1st Gen 1966 Chevy C60 SEMI Truck with a Factory Fifth Wheel!

I've been looking for one of these for 10 years, and finally found one out of state, it's the 1st generation Chevy Pickup body style, but with air brakes and the Semi setup in the back. Coolest truck ever?

Do a Google search on them and there’s only a few pictures I don’t know that there was many made senses video I have found out that it come out of the Atlanta plant and the truck that I have been building the short bed come out of the same plant two months later

What a gem! I love seeing the old school air brake setup and belt driven compressor. I just got my own C60, but it has hydraulic brakes and no 5th wheel, also has the 292 straight six. But I think I'll put a 5th wheel on it. I won't haul anything crazy heavy with, but it should be perfect for hauling around other old trucks!

We confirmed by digging around a little bit after it was delivered, this is a factory 1966 that was made like this, they call it a "low cab forward", since the frame is different and the cab is slightly different, the front of the truck is about a foot shorter than the typical pickup body, although it looks very similar. The fifth wheel is original from the factory and one of the ways they hauled semi's back in the day.... this was classified a medium duty which is why it's a C60... The box trucks and the flatbeds were much more common that the 5th wheel version.

This is not a. LCF, it's a Heavy Duty C-60. If it were a LCF the VIN would have an L in it. I have an LCF and one of these in my collection.

Gladhands are the hookup valves on the trailer, air lines are just that, air lines; the hand valve on the steering column is for the trailer brakes not tractor brakes, the toggle switch cuts off the air to front brakes when on a wet road, no longer allowed

Do you plan a full frame off restoration? That would be an AWESOME truck fully restored w/ a factory bench seat in it.. delete the behind the seat gas tank.. add some kick arse sound behind the seat.. replace those old fuel tanks w/polished aluminum tanks.. color match the hubs to cab color w/chromed rims for the tires.. Holland aluminum 5th wheel.. Detail that engine,air compressor & engine bay.. Hell yeah!!! 😎

That is not a cab forward that cab and hood is the same as the pickup trucks I own a 1965 like this the finders and front clip is different

The hump in the floor is totally different also the hood is shorter I’ve pulled a tape measure on it many times it’s not the same

I used to buy loads of hay from the Amish auctions here and believe it or not I had an old f150 with improvements and a 30 ft goose neck on it. I could haul 20 round bails on it like a beast . When you looked at my rig you would have figured I was crazy with what I could haul . Thanks for sharing what a cool truck!!!

Pretty cool find looks to be a legitimate truck He did unhook it from a trailer right before I brought it over you can tell by the grease is super clean there’s no rust on the fifth wheel plate at all Only takes a couple days to start grading rust on that fifth wheel if there’s not enough grease on it Put some fresh grease on it make sure that sucker locks coordinated and double check that make sure those claws are shut before you move that trailer
