AGA Amiga 2000 68080 Vampire CORE3 runs TBL Starstruck

E137 in this video i flash the Core3 alpha to the Vampire turning it into a AGA machine, and run TBL Starstruck. a heavy demand on resources demo. the V does great. Now in this mode RTG only no RGB video. but after a few hdmi converter boxes a flip from pal mode (which is why i couldnt get it to display correctly on my ntsc tv until i ran it through a scart /hdmi to hdmi upscaler. into OBS where i could zoom it full screen NOTE* this is a older Core3 you can download from the team apollo website. I had to run Femu.080 for FPU so it gets choppy at times, my SD card could not keep up to the demand. however - Kudos to TBL for Starstruck and they're other outstanding Amiga Demos. please note this is just a proof of concept** all you Amiga haters or Vampire haters go bite your arm ... note if you need Femu.080 its impossible to find anymore, so get it from me here drive.google.c... get core3 alpha here: bit.ly/3CekgnN

I remember at Assembly, when this demo won the (060 Amiga & PC) democompo, they showed the video capture of greetings part, where the robot smashes Fairlight. No hidden messages there surely :-D

it is indeed a great demo , and most of the other demos that TBL does are incredible. but i had to run Femu.080 for FPU in that alpha core which causes it to jitter at times, plus my SD card was about at its max speed it could go and was still not fast enough. but it worked, and it worked ok... far from perfect but worked nonetheless..

Awesome stuff. I have a vampire in my 2000 too. I’m not too worried about using AGA on it as I like it it using the original ECS chips, but I do love the card. I suppose switching to AGA can always be done temporarily 🤷🏻‍♂️.

@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Can you share experience running AGA core? is it unstable? can you compare it with 2.12 core considering stability? What else is against using 3.0 alpha?

@@apaczi1 sure, it "works" its "usable" but not enjoyable. i live in the states, my systems and display is NTSC, the core3 turned it into a PAL 1200 68080 basically, so i had to run the Vampire HDMI through a upscaler first to get it to ntsc, then through my tv , then back to the capturecard to the pc so i could resize the screen to full for the demo. it works, but if i had pal it would have been easier. there are not alot of screen modes for the Core3 as it was old and just a proof of concept. CoffinR54 would not run on it because of the screenmodes i guess. if your going to just try some games or stuff in AGA it will be fine. most of my programs have been reset on screenmodes to CoffinR54 RTG, it needs more work, if it would get the further support now that the V1200 and V4sa are out it could be great. However again - this core takes over entirely, no amiga chips are used at all, but i gained a meg of chip ram... i like core 2.12rc3 for now though. ust a proof of concept, and it did ok, had some Lag on the demo from my slow CF card...

@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Thanks, I'm in Europe so PAL is ok ;-). If I could, one more clarification: Is vampireGFX RTG working? In theory you could have (like me) mulitiscan montior that supports as well as PAL as higher frequencies and not need to switch between monitor inputs. ( I have my A2000 with Indivision that output ECS graphics through VGA connected to the same monitor that HDMI from vampire, and when I start game I need to quickly switch to VGA input, which is very annoying because the same moment that Vampire switch off HDMI to use ECS chipset monitor goes dark, and it is hard to convince him that there is a signal on VGA ;-))

@@apaczi1 well i learned from another user today that before you flash core3, set your display prefs to pal non interlaced, and go into sys/prefs/env and delete overscan.preferences before you flash it helps with the display issues i had. now since your pal it should just load up on Workbench without issues. but its only HDMI, and audio is only HDMI, i call that RTG since its not on amiga vga flicker fixed/db25 upscaled whatever. but its not RTG 24bit modes, i managed to upscale mine a little better but its limited in its resolutions. i guess you could make a few more but i only tested this as a proof of concept. the youtuber Manuel Jesus and cotters stuff did more with it than i last year.

Hey. I tried to upgrade my vampire to core 3 on the amiga 2000, but it's not working, I had to re flash the vampire to get back the previous core. Do u have any tips on getting core 3 to work. Yeah and I get weird flashing screen of different colour appearing during bootie on core 3.

core3 will only output video on hdmi, it was a alpha core, , you saw how i did mine, although this video had to go through a couple converters and connectors to get it to show on camera, but normally it would just go out hdmi. in a poo resolution

@@erixjaison1 its the last line of the extended desc of the video. you will need femu also if your going to be doing fpu stuff... which is also in the extended desc.

Epic ,I guess with the vampire on the AMiGA 2000 is just as good as the cyberstorm ppc I had in my 4000t 060 cppc vs 080 in the vampire so Native stuff should be even faster!

well yes and no the A2000 is of course ECS , this "alpha"core 3 makes it a AGA 1200, and all of the functions are on the Vampire, when its in core2x its just a kick ass accellerator and RTG videocard w 128mb ram. its the fastest amiga ive ever used. regardless of what its on, i have a V1200 on order too so when thats done i will do a shootout. oh the core3 didnt have a FPU on this version, so i had to run FEMU (software FPU) thats why it jumps around a bit,
