This is by far the best chess channel of its type that I've found so far. I'm in my seventies and had stopped playing chess many years ago. But recently I got the urge to play again. agadmator makes it fun and interesting going through the various games that he does. Great job by agadmator!

The Evans gambit is really fun to play and one of my favourites. Probably the first opening I really studied as a child, since the first game in my first chess book, was an Evans gambit game with Paul Morphy as white. It really fascinated me.

@Peter Mortensen I stand corrected. I saw it at a time when it had a brief revival near 97-99. I had to check my score book from that period. But I was a stanch English Opening player during that period. I was also thinking wrongly as it upset my game as I took the games. I actually moved to the Sicilian Defense that year and would occasionally see the Wing Gambit before I stopped playing in tournaments in 99.

Back in the 90's, when I used to actually play 1.e4, I remember studying the Evans for almost a year. Eventually, I noticed that I never got to play it. To play the Evans you have to get to the Italian. Most of the time, I either got the French, the Sicilian, the Scandinavian, or sometimes the Petrov, or the annoying Caro-Khan. This is such an enjoyable video. Brings back memories of when I discovered that the road to rapid chess improvement was to play often but study like an addict.

@mxstoe I thought that was the idea, all of us learning, even Antonio. I know that it is a tricky opening but maybe he can navigates us through the main ideas and plans in at least the 4 most common black replies after a6 has been played. Memorizing plans, basic ideas and key squares is much more useful than learning lines. That is why I think plans for black would make quality content that his followers would appreciate. Most of the videos I find are mainly focused on white's pov. #suggestion

Najdorf is the most "must know tons of theory" Sicilian, so it's very difficult to learn, especially on that level (the videos Antonio makes is for everyone) and requires both knowledge and experience which only a super GM or a top coach can have.

I didn't see the forced mate at 27:53 but you can almost win the opponent's queen with Nf6+ Kd8 and skewering the queen and king with one of your rooks, but I think black can block with Nd2. Reply if you see anything better in that line.

agadmator is a WORLD-CLASS wonderful chess commentator.... I'm old enough to remember the commentary provided by PBS for Fischer's biggest matches, and he was good. THIS, HOWEVER, is even better. Yes, you need to be at least semi-serious about chess to follow the "lines not taken," but there is just about the right amount of this, and it's counter-balanced by pointing out more obvious things. For someone to be able to work without a script - really - at this level of engagement, fluency, analytical insights, etc. - it's just amazing! Plus, he picks well as to what to present.... And I'm not related or saying any of this for any reason other than sharing something wonderful with y'all!

@agadmator please, please, make this a regular thing, you're so much better at teaching than many, if not all of the GM's we see regularly on KZbin. You're insight and how you explain things is fantastic. Hell, just the way you talk is much more attractive than the same old boring monotone of most GM's. The Evans Declined with a4 and c3 is a transposition to the Bird Variation of the Italian Game. Also, after either take on b4 with the Knight OR the Bishop retreat to c5, White can play d4 and if exd4 play cxd4 and allow Bb4+ with Kf1. I have been playing this for years with pretty good results.
